I find it much more interesting to read about and communicate with people who reveal some information about themselves. And since this forum is supposed to be for people who have an interest in running, why do so many of you fail to list anything at all about your running on profiles?

It's frustrating to read an interesting post, then click on the profile to learn something about the person who wrote it and find nothing. Too many horror stories about Internet scams I guess.

What people choose to put in their profiles is up to them.

We have had what we call "Person of the Day" going on for awhile now. People sign up for a specific day and then answer questions about running and other things. Its kind of a "get to know you" sort of thing. They are great threads. Those threads are in the PRT but there is an archive of the older ones in a sub forum of the "Shoebox Forum"

There is also a sticky in the PRT for that gives info on how to sign up for it.

Feel free to encourage others to sign and and share about their running and life. They are great posts to read and really have helped people get to know each other better!

All well and good. Of course people have a right to share what they want, but the threads you mention are an occasional thing. Profiles are available for every single post that a person makes. I do, btw, check through threads where people introduce themselves, tell us what their goals are, etc. A more complete profile template where people could list their upcoming races and goals would be nice too. Sure they can do it in the comments, but 80% of them won't unless there is a blank that asks for something specific.

What's the PRT? I'm sure I can figure it out if I look around long enough, but sometimes I find it hard to keep up with all the acronyms....ah, I see...must be the Post Race Tent?

Thanks,
Another place to look for things like upcoming races is in peoples signature. Many people put that information there.

Another place is on the Race Calendar. There is a link to it in the menu bar at the top of the page.

Also, at the bottom of the main forum page, there is a list of all upcoming races that people have put on the calendar.

Just t few more hints as to where to find more information.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Actually - I wish people WOULD put more about their running accomplishments in their profile. I added that portion of the profile about 7 months ago; so some of the older people probably never even looked after they first set their profile.

Perhaps, we can come up with an incentive to get people to update their profiles.

Thanks
