The studio basically drowned it like a sack full of kittens -- it was only released in a handful of theaters, with no marketing support. There are <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/09/business/09online.html?_r=1" target="_blank">a lot of conspiracy theories</a> about why, but I think <a href="http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1533437-1,00.html" target="_blank">Joel Stein has it right</a>. It's not the best stuff Mike Judge has done, but I like it well enough, and a lot of other people do too. But the punchlines and aesthetics are such that the marketing people just plain couldn't put together ads and trailers that tested well enough for Fox to put money into marketing it.
