I'm sporting 10 more pounds than I'd like. I need to start being accountable...after I get back from vacation. Heh.

January 1st starts on a Sunday, so it's a great day to start. Get your dietary affairs in order now, people. You can weigh in if you want, report food or calories, exercise, whatever.

I'm there. I may start a little early, as my mom's new condo complex has a workout room with a couple of treadmills. So I have two weeks to try to get back into running and perhaps think about joining a gym when I get back. Of course joining a gym after New Years is just nuts.

I'm in and I'm starting early. Right now!

And, man, I know I'm not supposed to weigh every day, but dammit! I barely ate anything yesterday. I was very good. And gained two pounds. What the hell?

Here's my numbers

Monday (my normal weigh in day)

203 lbs.

Today

204 lbs. 30 minutes weights, 15 minutes treadmill. (probably some more treadmill tonight)

Food...

I know it might be difficult for some of you to get these things, but, I have a Whole Foods near me, and they sell a lot of grain (and other stuff) in bulk. It's a little pricey, in the sense that you are paying a lot for how much you get, but a little goes a long way. Not sure if you understand what I mean. It's sort of like, saffron costs hundreds of dollars a pound, but you only use an infinitesimal amount, so it only costs you a dollar.

I've taken to buying wheatberries, kamut, and beans. Which beans? Different every time. They have a huge selection of dried beans. Most I've never heard of, you have to look up on the internet to find out what they are.

Anyway, I soak them all over night, rinse, then boil for two hours the next day.

What I do then is, scoop out about a cup of this and mix it with maybe some low-cal salad dressing, and eat it as a snack mid-meals. LOADED with protein and fiber, and a lot of other minerals, depending on which variety of bean you buy.

So, for about $5, I get a "snack" that lasts two weeks. I freeze half of it, put the rest in the fridge. At the end of the week I always have some left over...I toss that, then grab the stuff from the freezer.

I have also, sometimes, put a can of Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilis in it sometimes, or corn, or other stuff. makes it a little more interesting.

Wheatberries are now on my short list. I've used them in vegetarian chili many times. It's a nice substitution for meat. Lots of texture, and fiber.

Well, I've been doing pretty well with my good choices except for the cupcake today...otherwise 110% better than the last three weeks.

I was doing stellar. Was. Until a party last night. That's fine, though, because I knew that it was going to be "bad". And, once again, I know it hasn't been a week yet for my weigh in, but, weight-wise I have been all over the map. We're talking 7 pound swings here over the course of a few days with the various parties.

Tomorrow, of course (and somewhat tonight too) will be a nightmare in the food department. Then the big family Christmas party. Then New Year's Eve. Sheesh! As much as I like the holidays, I just want them to be over so I can stop eating like crazy.

I got on a treadmill today and walked/jogged for 24 minutes, mostly walked, to be perfectly honest, but it felt good to be moving again.

That's my MO lately. I'm so heavy (well, for me, that is) that running is uncomfortable. I really need to lose 40 pounds before I can start running again. However, I'm on the treadmill WALKING for 30+ minutes at least 5 times a week.

Oh...just to keep myself honest, my weight for yesterday, my weigh in day was

204

Which isn't bad, considering all the parties and dinners and stuff. Next up, the massive family Christmas party on Friday.

Thanks for the food advice, TechTee.

I am out of town right now, and will be returning homoe tomorrow night. Been running a teeny bit while I've been on vacation. I got a cold the first day I arrived here at my parents' house, so I've been taking it easy. And eating too much, of course! I will weigh myself on Sunday.

Another 30 minutes on the treadmill. Feeling good. Sure wish I had a treadmill in my apartment back home.

Oh and Tech Tee, I am a weigh yourself every day kind of person as well. I have a weigh in day that I record, but sometimes, that cupcake won`t get put in my mouth if I had a good weight in the a.m..
