Happy December 1!

I slept in too late this morning - need to hurry up and get outside for a run.

Anyone have anything fun today?

I too slept in! Mainly because I work from home today and can afford that luxury :) I'll get a run on the TM this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning.

I have no idea why I just didn't take the whole day off today. DD has another cardiology appt this afternoon, so I just took a half family sick. Dumb.

I need to be nicer to myself. That is going to be my NY resolution.

Shannon - good vibes to you and DD. I know those appointments are nerve racking (DS#2 had an irregular heartbeat as a baby). Oh, and pediatric cardiologists tend to be very sterile (i.e. they see the heart, not a kid or her family) and somewhat rough around the edges. That was my experience anyway. Take it as it is and don't let it bother you. And yes, be nice to you. You deserve it. :)

Today was the first day with my new coach. I hired a local guy and he seems really good to work with. I am running by time, not miles. And he wants me to be running a bit faster than I usually do. So it was weird all around. Today was 30 minutes (normally I run 50-60 minimum) and I ran a wee bit too fast. Oh well. It is a work in progress. I am pretty excited. I also started arm weights again last night and have been doing core work every day this week. Time to get back into racing shape! Woot!

I also started reading Running on the Edge last night. Normally I would never read that kind of book (it is a self-improvement type book geared toward distance runners). But Runnin-from-the-law highly recommended it on her blog, so I am giving it a try. Got about 5 chapters in. Jury is still out on what I think of it. A bit hokey, but I guess true stuff.

QOD: What is your favorite brand of running tights? I usually wear UnderArmour Cold Gear. They are lightweight, comfy, yet warm (but not too warm). I can wear them if it is -20 or 30 degrees. But I am eyeing the uber fancy CW-X compression type tights. Anyone try those and have a review?

Morning all.

2 miles on the tm for me this morning. More walk than run, but the run intervals were at a pace I'm happy with for now. Need to work out a plan for the next month or two, then I will sign up for the local running store's training group for the Indy mini. It is amazing how much my focus has changed in 24 hours, just from registering for a race. My goals are more about the quality of the training cycle than this race. Oh, and dropping some tonage, again.

DH has a pair of those CW-X and likes them. Thinks they do help but might be placebo.

I only have one pair of adidas (i think they are at least Supernova). They are awesome and are a wee fleecy in the inside. I wore them all last year with no real issues in the cold. When it is chillier I'll wear nike combat shorts under as well.

I do need another pair though.

Ran 8 last night slower. Dog went with for the first 5 and was a huge baby...didn't like the bridge at all and it was a series of start/stops the entire way over. Also my stomach was a nightmare. blah

Recovery miles tonight - like 4 or so

Morning, all. I forgot to bring my list to school today and just read solar and CoachT from last night (I'm pretty sure that solar was still on the list), so I'll have to post the list later tonight. I have too much to do anyway, and having that project in front of me would have made me completely unproductive in my must-do stuff. Maria, I think I need help with the password stuff.

I was singing in the shower and while getting ready, so my two day funk seems to have cleared.

Brandy, I'm still thinking about and being amazed by your 40 lb loss. I want to be you when I grow up.

I guess I should actually start that work I need to do.

Yay Amichel!!! I'm psyched for you. I too started planning a race schedule for 2012 yesterday. Mine might be:

10-miler in January (the same one I did with LL and Solar a few years back... hint hint, come do it again with me!)

Duathlon in April

Seattle Half in June

Sprint tri in July

Sprint tri in September

I'm worried about training for a HM and an Olympic tri at the same time (the June and July races are only 4 weeks apart), so I think I'll stick with sprints for this year.

QOD

I have a few pairs. My favorites are Saucony, primarily because they have more reflectivity (it's a word, go with it) than the other ones. They are a little shorter than the others, though... My other tights (one is Hind, the other is Road Runner brand) are men's tights that I bought for the length.

Good luck today, NCRG!!! Sending calming vibes to you.

Oh, and be very proud of me today. My running partner bailed at the last second (got a text at 5:51 a.m. and she was supposed to meet me at 6), but I went out anyway! Pitch black out there, 22 mph winds and a wind chill of 27. Go me.

Ok, I figured out how to share, but I want to make sure everyone is ok with it. I can make the Google Document list available to anyone with the correct link, and then I can publish the link here. That would mean that if any old person wandered into here, they would have access to the list. I could also send PMs or emails to everyone with the link. I'm not sure if I have everyone's email. I think LL used to publish the link here, but I wanted to double check before I did anything (later tonight).

Bunny bunny indeed.

Yay Theia on getting out there!

I ran 5 easy miles yesterday. So I finished November with 108.6. Not all that much, but it's more than October, and only a couple miles behind September. My YTD total is 1454.6, which puts me behind pace from the last two years, albeit just barely. For the first 6 months of this year or so, I was on track to shatter my previous mileage high for a year (just over 1600). I can still break that number with a halfway-decent December, but I won't "shatter" it. Well, that's what I get for slacking off for 2-3 months...

QOD: I almost never wear tights. It's gotta be really cold (below 20) for me to pull them out. And I guess it just doesn't get that cold that often around here. Frankly I don't even remember what brand they are...

Bob - I wish I had the luxury of not wearing tights but it is normally below 20F in the winter here and frostbite is not as cool as it sounds :)

My November was ok mileage wise at 208 but slower than previous months - to be expected since I am not doing the speedwork at my paces

Prae, I would prefer a PM. I don't need everyone in Internet-world to know my real name and address. (Maybe I'm paranoid. Or maybe I just watch too much Criminal Minds!)

hi guys- still have a super sore throat although apparently it's not strep. I did manage a short workout yesterday though so that was good. Lots of stuff going around here germ-wise.

Can't remember who posted the red shoes yesterday but I love them!

Brandy- can't tell you enough how proud I am of you. I am trying to lose 20 lbs myself so I'll keep you in mind as my invisible mentor. Lori, and CoachT- good to see you guys pop in.

Re: running tights- haven't worn them since I left Boston and don't miss them one bit!
