Can't wait to see the new style football tomorrow on half a field at Wrigley.

If you are running for a long touchdown you have to stop at the 50...all the other players go the the other end of the field...and the play continues.

I blame Cam Newton for this Clusterfuck.

What about interceptions and fumble returns?

Do they have to run in circles three times, rub their tummies and pat their heads before running into that one endzone?

The whole thing is insane. They could have put a big crash mat against the wall. It's not like the end zone was cut off.

Back in the day Toronto had a team in the Continental Football League and they had to play in Maple Leaf Stadium which was the AAA Baseball park. One end zone corner was cut off and they had a plywood wall to "protect" flying players. That's when men were men.

They're afraid of passes to the back of the end zone, and guys running full speed into the wall behind it. On a fumble or interception return, the play will stop once the players are past the goal line, giving them 10 yards to come to a stop...

They could have made some unique ground rules. A pass off the wall is still live until it hits the ground. That is, you can bounce a TD pass (or interception) off the back wall. A pass getting stuck in the ivy is a live ball. Good thing the game did not really mean anything. I do not get the appeal of playing a football game in a baseball stadium. Especially one that is too small. Soldier field would have been a better venue for that game if they were looking for something different. But I don't think anything beats a college game on a campus. My 2 cents.

All offensive touchdowns would be scored in the west end zone, more than 100 yards from Isaac's seat.

So, when Illinois' Clay Nurse recovered a Northwestern fumble during the first quarter, Illini fans sitting near the right field bleachers overlooking the east end zone had this reaction -- they booed.

But some fans felt that was plenty.

It could've pretty fun, if they ended adopting Arena-style football game padding for that section of the field.

Despite the quirk, it was actually fun to see that game at Wrigley on TV. Also gave me a true perspective on how small Wrigley is (I always think AT&T Park here is small, but we don't have that sizing issue here when putting in football field markings when they host the formerly-Emerald/currently-Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl annually
