I'm weaning myself off white sugar. We have such a love affair. Actually, blame the hot beverages!!

I have cut back my sugar consumption tremendously! I'm a 2 pot of coffee & a couple dozen cups of tea a day junkie. Each cup used to have 2 tsp of sugar.
Now, the first cup of coffee gets one spoon, then I refill it black all day. Repeat with the second pot all night. The tea still gets a spoon or two most of the time.

I ran out of sugar a week ago; and yet, didn't die I have a jar of blue agave. I was thinking it is a better alternative. it's billed at low glycemic. had 60 calories. yada.yada. Last night I finally got around to researching it. Now I'm confused.

Is it good? Better? Bad? What say you?

I'd say no sugar is better than agave, but agave is better than white sugar. It still needs moderation, but using it instead of white sugar will be better, or weaning yourself off with its aid.

getting off of white sugar will be the best thing you will ever do, you will feel so good! as far as the agave, I use it very sparingly. I use it to sweeten my oatmeal and sometimes stirfry sauces. Some recipes for muffins I make call for it. It is a great sweetener alternative. I have always drinken my tea and coffee (when i used to drink it) black that is the healthiest way

I have a variety of non-white-sugar natural sweeteners including agave. I think it tastes similar to honey but isn't so syrupy.

I also like small amounts of raw honey, raw sugar, and stevia if I need to add sweet. There's a new product I just saw that is a blend of mostly stevia with a little real sugar. I can't remember the name right now.

It was hard at first but I'm glad I've kicked the added sugar habit. Now fruits and other naturally sweetened or very lightly sweetened foods have so much more flavor, and no more sugar lulls!

I get it. No sweetener is better. Believe me, I'm WAY down from a year ago. Even way down form 6 months ago.

So we think it's good? I saw an article that was beyond my tired brain, when I was looking. If you google agave fraud... you get massive hits. Breaking down Fructose & glucose and processing info until my eyes bled. You don't get that with say banana fraud. I's hate to sub for something worse for me.... I need to keep reading

It taste good though... & I only needed a tiny bit.....
