which half?

I have an ambitious goal of getting a PR in my spring half marathon. I have two to choose from, and I can't decide which one to make my goal. #1 is small, flat, and is held MArch 15. #2 is the Country Music Half, huge, crowded, bands, etc, and is 6 weeks later at the end of April.

I don't know whether to target #2 and us #1 as a guage of my progress, or target #1 and use #2 as a redo if I don't make my goal the first time. Does it matter?

I think I'd try for that simply because the first one sounds flat and fast.

You might be a little better positioned fitness wise to try it at CMM though so if it fails, there ya go.

Have you done CMM before? If not, that wouold seem like a good one to just coast and enjoy the spectacle.

I'd say try for it at #1 and have CMM as a backup

Good luck with whatever you choose

If you think you can be ready by 3/15 that'd be the way to go. I like small to medium events the best anyway. Throw in the fact that it's fast and flat and you're good to go. I'd only use the Country Music half if I thought the extra 6 weeks would mean the difference between a PR or a non PR.

The decision is also made easier by the fact that the CM1/2M is $85!
