Good Morning - this reminds me of my runs this week which were all evening runs - I typically run in the morning. Every time I passed someone, I was soooo close to saying "Good Morning" out of habit .

After Wed. night's hard minute effort intervals, this morning's legs were heavy. About half way through my run, I just wanted to quit, but then it would take too long to get home . . . 15.3 miles. Then I took a dip in my neighbor's pool - very refreshing!

Enjoy your day!

Nice long run Pink. Strong not to quit.

5.5 ez miles this morning. Got back to the starting point and all the XC camp kids from Texas A & M Corpus Christi showed up. Must have been 150 high school and middle school kids show up.

We had some serious thunderstorms overnight, the kind that wake you up, rattle the windows, and light up the room. We don't usually get our thunderstorms at night. Most are in the afternoons, but these were real gully washers.

So naturally the humidity was a low 98% this morning. With a temp of 78 that gave me a Doo Doo Point of 78. JTWILI. 4 easy miles at 9:18 pace without much energy.

Some of you might remember I started playing guitar again, after a long absence from it, a little over a year ago. The guitar playing has not progressed as well as I expected. (No one else is complaining though.) The vocal stuff is great but the old body and mind don't seem to be learning/memorizing the guitar as well as they used to. That's sort of disheartening and a bit surprising.

Pink, great LR today and great way to cool off.

A week from now my DH and I will be in Boston on our way back from Maine. I have to travel on business to Portland, Maine. We decided to take a side trip to Boston to meet in person some of my legendary running friends. We are spending Thursday night with the Pro and Friday night with La Tortuguita....aren't I the luckiest girl :). I can't wait to meet my Boston running buddies, whom I so admire and deeply respect. I also hope to run up Heartbreak Hill...it may be my only chance to test it out

This morning I ran 6 miles up the hill and back. Last night I swam for 45 minutes...

Have a cool day you all.

Nice run Pink.

Mariposai, I think Breger put the guitar away after he saw that youtube of the kid playing the McKee song.

Got home fairly early last night and this morning I took my car in for repairs and ran home. 3.6 slow miles. Now for some catchup work, then a nap. Spareribs

bill, you may not be playing the geetar as well as you would like, but I know your music - both vocally and instrumentally - comes from your heart, so I have no doubt it's beautifully melodic.

mariposai is a lucky girl! enjoy your travels to that part of the country and meeting up with a couple of running rock stars!

rest day on tap for me. I haven't taken my BP and RHR for quite awhile so did that last night after I had been laying in bed reading for about 20 minutes, so figured I'd be pretty close to a true resting rate. Well, I was surprised that my HR was in the mid 60's. It had been in the upper 40's. I took it twice, about 5 minutes apart and still mid 60's. Not sure why it would be so high. My BP was low though - 97/54.

I have a 10K trail race tomorrow. not a race for me though - just an enjoyable trail run that is hilly too. It's a bit different than most races around here as it's a handicapped start times based on your age - patterned after how Dipsea does their start times. It will be fun I'm sure, but it'll also be quite warm!

Wow Tammy. That is very, very nice of you to say. Thanks.

By the way, first thing in the morning is the best time to take your RHR.

DH and I took a very sweaty spin class this morning and all I can say is that I'm glad it's done now. It took us a really long time to cool down.

I know this is totally off topic, but this is a hysterically funny video. Be sure to turn on your speakers.

Lucky Mari hell, lucky are the folks that get to host you and DH!. Make sure Pro cooks for you (and Lala doesn't)

I haven't been doing much this week, going to try and ride tomorrow and hope I don't melt.

I stuck the introduction thread link and the pet thread link to that box up top. It's what we have to work with.

pink, i say "good morning" to runners i meet, no matter what time of day it is.

8mi running, some with the meetup group... big turnout with 4 runners... i always run with the back of the pack when i organize a run, so it was a nice 3mi warmup followed by 5mi a little faster. then 7mi bike to work... and later 7mi home. i'll try not to head-butt any cyclist that tries to pass me... might get me sent home from france. oh wait, i'm not in france.

tamster, one of the first signs for me of getting a cold is when my rest pulse is up around 70 bpm for no apparent reason. take it easy during the weekend if you can.

hally, I think those two links are enough, and definitely the right two.

I head slapped a bicyclist last year, does that count for anything?

I say 'hi' to other runners that I see, but then I normally run in the afternoon.

Tamster, I'll trade you a portion of your blood pressure for my RHR (it was 43 bpm this morning).

DR: one glazed and one devil's food. I discovered that my summer intern is also a doughnut devotee. We've compared notes...

No run today, but I may play 9-holes of recovery golf.

Mine runs in the low 50's when I'm taking it easy and low 60's when I'm pushing it. Yoga was awesome so I should check it now but there's not a machine around. 6 mi. easy scheduled after work on the treadmill. It wouldn't be wise for me to try running when the heat index is 105-110.

Tammy - Any chance you are overtraining?

My hips are whacked from the intervals Wednesday and so much spinning and throwing these past few days. I may hit the chiro's office early next week, before I travel to the games.

I was scheduled to run 5 today but it felt like the right thing to do to cut it back to 4.5. My teamof devoted runners and I were about the only ones out there along the river today. The Hudson, btw, smelled curiously like, the, uh, Hudson.

..yep, I agree.......this is one of the signs

....my RHR is 54 lately,

but like mc I notice it JUMPS to high 70s if I'm sick or when I used to overtrain (not a problem currently)

Don't get sick, Tammy!

'Posalina, thank you for asking -- my quad is doing OK now! I am hesitant to run any downhills nor speed, so...just going pokey slow right now.

6 miles in the cool morning air today.

Whenever I run in the afternoon, Pink, I feel like I don't know what to say. "Hi" sounds like I know them..."good afternoon" is stodgy. There are so many runners here, anyway, that it feels sort of silly to say "Hi", whereas in the morning, there's this unspoken feeling that we get bonus points for being out so early, and a hearty "good morning" expresses that.

I have never slapped nor head-butted a cyclist! Should I try sometime? It sounds like it could be fun.

overtraining?? ha! undertraining is more like it. I only ran once last week and am only around 12 mi for this week so far. and I'm feeling quite healthy, so I don't think I'm getting sick either. Maybe life stressors? although I would have thought that would also make my BP higher, but it's nice and low like it usually is. I'll try taking it in the a.m. sometime. I've always taken my HR and BP in the evenings because my DH sleeps a bit later than I do in the a.m., so don't want to awaken him with the sounds of the BP thingie.

So I have a week to train up to run with Mari. About 5M in 90 deg HHH. Ugh. HR ranged from tempo to 5k race pace.

I need a headlamp and am looking at one of these two at Amazon:

they both seem to have pretty decent reviews, but I'm not familiar with either brand and have never shopped around for headlamps before, so thought maybe someone here might have an opinion on them.

Tammy, I got a nice headlamp (Penzl?) at the backpacking supply store, but in the end, I found that a cheap headlight that fits on the bill of a baseball cap is way brighter and better. I got it for $8.95 at Batteries Plus.
