I know - read your post - and that got me thinking because when I say "flu" it's influenza... but people at work (and in my family) toss around "flu" for tummy problems...

When I had the "flu", I KNEW it and discovered first hand why people die from it (not that I was in any danger, but boy did I WANT to die!)

I went to the doctor in college once b/c I was sick and told him I had the flu. He said "No you don't."

I said "How do you know, you haven't even looked at me."

He said "You don't have something coming out of either of your ends and you're not flat on your back or curled up in the fetal position praying for death."

That's my standarad for saying I have the flu now. Otherwise, I just have a touch of something.

It means the flu flu. But the last time I was shitting and puking all over the place, I called it a stomach flu because that's what the person who gave it to me was calling it.

I have been dodging the flu for at least two or three weeks here. I am the one lone healthy person in a row of nine offices. All have been hit with it at various times, including one who just got sick yesterday. Now, I am hot, flushed, and my neck, back, and shoulders ache. I feel like I'm breaking out in a sweat just sitting here in my office. I am about to embark on a 15 day special project phase at work that includes lots of night/weekend stuff and client dinners. I cannot afford to be sick right now. It is the worst possible day for this since the whole thing kicks off tomorrow at noon. Mofo.

Maybe if I deny that I'm sick and tough it out I'll be okay.

or changing something in your lifestyle.
I used to get sick right around the first of the year, and I was sick then subpar for three weeks.
This was college, and a couple of years after -- I figured it was due to little sleep, too much rich food, too much drinking.
So.... I changed my habits. And suddenly, no more yearly sickness.

Now, I realize EddieChupacabraMurphy is married to an acupuncurist and your lifestyle is likely healthier than the average American; however, you're recurring sickness might be attributed to something; I'd be trying to figure it out rather than expecting to be sick every year.

Does this sound critical? It's not meant to be. you just got me thinking about my own past.

I haven't had the flu in many, many years but when I did say it I meant the boogie-woogie flu.
