...I'm giving him math camp.<br><br>

650 yards OFF!<br><br>
I was wondering why I was so tired. I usually check his math BEFORE a workout.<br><br>
I can send him some 2nd grade worksheets in the meantime.

maybe he was writing it in his head while he was swimming.<br>
I know that my ability to count past 5 goes significantly downhill when I have chlorine in the head.

I think it's a general coaching thing. Both my dragonboat coach and my outrigger coach had serious counting issues!<br><br>

oh my.<br><br>
My coach gives me sets with "counting laps" built in....cause I'M so bad at counting.<br><br>
Today:<br>
600 straight swim, every 4th lap on your back....so, rather than having to count to 24, I only had to count to 6....cool, huh?<br><br>
Or, the coaches could be counting like my niece....<br><br>
1....2....3....4...5...6...7...8...9...10....11... .34......26......76.....100!!

They didn't teach me funny counting at coaching school. Maybe it's an acquired skill. Maybe that's how I'll know when I've made it as a coach - when I start counting all funny!!<br><br>

It's not the counting that kills....<br><br>
I write out a schedule that has a distance in each workout. I then go back and fill in the details of each workout. I then go back and add or subtract distances as I look at the workout. I don't go back and re-add the total, I just leave it as a best guess.<br><br>
Tuesday trainer workouts are the same. I just write 60 or 90 minutes. The workout could be 150 minutes by the time I'm done writing the actual workout. Just know that on Tuesdays, your gonna workout hard and for a long time. <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"><br><br>

That is why I use a watch with 100 splits, every 50 or 100 I hit the split. Keeps me on track. Because i surely can't count past 4 in the pool.<br><br>
Uh, what lap was that again. <img alt="confused.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/confused.gif">

You and Ann must write workouts the same way!<br>
There are some mornings when she's got this way she walks in the door, and the look on her face.....<br>
it's gonna be a day when Stitcher gets to turn BRIGHT RED. "Stop talking and go!" *gulp*<br><br>
Fun days are "fins are your friends" day, and "play with pool toys" day.<br><br>
She made a note this morning that she'll need to remember to bring hockey pucks for something soon. (*wondering what THAT'LL be like*)

yeah....that works for a total count.<br>
But if you're doing repeats of longer distances (ok, for me that's anything over 200 yds in regard to counting), the split doesn't help mid-swim. It will tell you at the end of a rep if you've done too much or too little, though.<br><br>

My eyes don't refocus quickly enough to "glance" at it mid swim, either. It's a wonder I don't run into the wall......wait, I DID do that this morning.

I'm still giving you a math lesson. Let me know if you need flash cards. Yup....there I was, backstroking along.....<br>
turned over for my flip....BAM....hit my hand on the wall instead of my head, only because my hand was **that close in front of my forehead.<br><br>
Certainly makes the next length more interesting.
