People like Lisa from Boston, and TG.

I don't really spend enough time here to know why people, out of the blue, quit this place.

Is it pressure from the husband, or something else?

Like someone weird starts to stalk them.

Like I said; I don't spend enough time online to really know and would like some opinions.

I don't know either person's reasons, but I do know that there are probably as many reasons for leaving as there are for staying.

Sometimes there are questions that have no answers.

Sometimes there are questions whose answers can cause more harm than good.

Sometimes there is no answer that we can understand...

let's just leave it at that and wish them both well.

For seven years I posted several times a day on a home schooling forum. People would come and go all the time. Currently, I'm on a break. One poster was getting nasty and I got tired of it. Eventually, it will blow over and I'll go back. I assume the same is true for KR.

sometimes you just need a break.

i used to be a member of about 6 forums that i would post on daily and now i have "left" 5 of them and just post here. It doesnt mean i won't ever go back to those places i just don't feel like being in those places right now is what i need to be doing.

I don't even know who TG is, but from time to time some of us take a break. Some come back, some find other boards. I have never concerned myself with the comings and goings of people. Some I'm very fond of such as Lisa, but like me she decides what is best for her with or without KR. But maybe I'll run into her at a California race.

I always found it hard to understand why people would abruptly pull the self-banning thing like that. I've gone through stretches where I dont post for a couple weeks and where I post a couple hundred times a day, depending on the mood and life in general. Either way, it's nice to have a place like this at my disposal to come and go as it pleases me. Why someone would completely remove it as an option is a bit puzzling.

yes.

and some of us are the non-announcing types...it's done with little fanfare. not that making an announcement is a bad thing; TG has some valid reasons I expect and she's so well known here that suddenly being gone would cause a lot of unnecessary talk.

flying under the radar has it's advantages sometimes.

I get the urge to quit and focus more on real life but it is sooo hard! My work productivity would probably soar!

I always assumed folks announce their leaving so they can be embarrassed to come back ...too soon anyway. I think they still lurk for a while though.

When I moved to my new job, I made a self imposed moratorium on posting from work. So while I didn't quit, I'm just not posting as much. Here or in the 30s thread, where I was more of a fixture.

I needed to for any number of reasons, but one was exactly what you said...I needed my productivity to increase and I needed to focus on real life more.

I'm sad about TG though.
