I just recieved this website in an email from the team and thought I'd pass it along. I'll have to take a look at it when I get a chance.

Did you do the survey? It'll tell you what they think you are.

Overglider, with just a small possibility of kicktastic, but I'm ruling out the kicktastic. Of course, I'm using guesstimates on the two key input figures of speed and stroke rate, so...garbage in garbage out, as they say. In general, though, overglider seems pretty likely to be accurate.

Hm, reading further on their website and watching more videos, I'm fairly certain they accurately pegged me as an overglider, even to the point of being a "pretty solid swimmer stuck at a plateau." Very interesting....

So how many of us are overgliders because that's what they said I was and the description was pretty accurate.

It didn't totally nail me, but I am a Bambino. I guess I shouldn't be shocked since I have only been swimming for a year. A few things don't fit - like not being able to breathe while swimming. I swim so slow that I have no trouble breathing ; ) And my swim times during the actual triathlon is much better than what I pull out in the pool.

Thanks for the link. It was neat!

Bambino - duh

It really nailed a couple things for me...

Lacking in confidence but gets a big buzz from overcoming challenges and swimming well. (I was crazy excited last year when I got through OW without completely panicking and stopping to tread water)

Due to limited swimming experience, self confidence in the water is lacking. (I've started doing tri's < 2 years ago - and hadn't been in the pool before that since i was a kid)

Typically a wide and deep arm pull through, relying heavily on the shoulder muscle groups to pull them through the water. (I have a bum shoulder from a dislocation, and I can feel it catching a lot)

Seen pausing at the end of the pool to catch their breath. (I've overcome this pretty well in that I've learned to stop freaking out, which ruins my breathing)

A rotary / windmill style of arm stroke which lacks catch and hold at the front end of the stroke. (I'm not even sure wtf this means)

Ok, I've been corrected. Had my mom view the videos and then rate me, since we swim together all the time. We both will check each other's form every few weeks. She said that I am most definitely a smooth, with only a few tendencies of the over glider. She said that I look completely effortless, even when I am swimming hard and I do rotate the same on both sides.

Mom is an over glider, who occasionally reverts to her arnette tendencies when she starts getting fatigued.

I'm with you Dougie...if I make it out of the water alive then it was a good swim. I am definitely an "Arnie" though, pretty much spot on.
