So, you gotta pick. What is the ONE most important thing you want to do in 2008 athletically.

Only athletics counts. Racing, training, whatever.

Me? I've not figured it out yet. Hoping you guys will help me decide.

I think I'm leaning towards having a "social" year. Where I structure my races around training and racing with friends. That'll be new for me. Friends at races ALWAYS a bonus, but I never sought it out.

All my races have been "social events." Crap...a girl likes to have fun!

I wanna get throught 2008 injury-free, not burnt out-but burnt out enough to want to have babies and not tri's...and to complete 2 more Ironman competitions.

In prep for that, Tithers needs LOTS of hillwork. And lose weight.

My goal is to qualify for Kona in the IMMOO 08 race. If I don't do it, try again in 09, 10, etc., until I get it done. So my race schedule for 08 is all to build up to this. But most importantly to have fun!

Is there any reason you wanna qualify at IMOO? Is it just because it's your local race?

It is my local race. I can get up and ride that race course during the season pretty easily, my parents are close to Madison, so its convienent for me to take trips up there and bring the family. Then I can go off and practice on the course.

But if I could do it in IM AZ in April I would, but I doubt I'll be ready by then. I plan to train through that race rather than have it as an A race. I've got a long way to go on the bike.

I honestly cannot pick one.

I want to compete at Ironman Lake Placid. It's a hilly course with slower finish times, so I don't want to get caught up in numbers. So although I will not break the bank for the one number I covet most -- but also the one that is probably among the toughest, reserved only for Pro's and Elites -- I want to represent my age group well. I can give or take Kona. Not a goal. But I'd love to qualify. But again, I want to represent at LP. I want a respectible bike split with an even more respectible run. That was make me happy and satisfied and give me motivation for the next year, when I'll register for a flatter, faster Iron distance event, where I will shoot for a sub-10 hour finish.

Second up, and this may change based on my performance at LP, is to qualify for Team USA. I get shivers just thinking about slipping on the uniform of red, white, and blue. That would be a dream. An honor. Something I really want.

Two goals. Two dreams. Which can change. And I'm good with that.

Right now, my goal is to get in to the routine of tri training and all the other life choices that come with that. Its just the beginning, so I'm thinking I better keep it simple...instead of over-reaching like I typically do.

*IMMOO = IM Wisconsin right? Is it just called IM MOO because Wisconsin --> cheese --> milk --> cows --> moo?

niemsco (and everyone else doing IM Wisconsin) give me advance before race day and I can run downtown or out on the bike course and cheer you guys on! Eventually I'll be out there with you, I hope.

Yes! A lot of people seem to call it that, I thought it was kind of cool, so I just keep referring to it as that. The 07 finishers shirt has a big cow on the back of the shirt. Its hilarious. Thanks for the support! Yes since you are in Madison, you could sign up the day after for 2009. They say that online registration is no longer going to be available for Wisconsin because its going to fill up at the race site like it does for Canada, so keep that in mind if you plan on doing it. So you can definitely get in for 09!

Kyle:

I am excited to watch your IM journey this year. You have been so supportive to others this past year. It's YOUR turn!!!

Thor: Team USA?? What does that mean? Can you explain.

Me: My main goal is to continue to inspire DH and do Lake Stevens 70.3 as a relay with him. He wants to bike and I'll swim and run. That would just be a dream for me!!!

My other big goal is to race a lot this year. I LOVE to race and I was too burned out after my HIM last year.

Oh and of course, injury free!!!!

niemsco - The soonest I'm gonna do an IM is probably 2010, but I'll definitely keep the registration tip for then. Till then I'll be happy with cheering you guys on and taking joy in how the IM takes over the city. So much better than when Badger football games take over...unless they're playing the Hawkeyes, then it's acceptable.
