A thread over in the PRT gave me this idea. Of course, most of them are too young, but we are all old enough for most of us to have had a large 45 collection. What was your first one?

Youtube is awesome - post a link to it!

Both my and my DW had Paul Revere and the Raiders as our first 45, and we didn't even know each other!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DsMQbedCZj0

My sister's first - Georgy Girl by the Seekers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laHM8tmYyrI

Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin is the oldest I can remember. I was 11 at the time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLzMw5hKoVk

Embarrassing to admit, but it was The Monkees.

I was such a wee gal, but I was so IN LOVE with Mickey Dolenz. (And my older sister ends up with the drummer )

My first 45 would've been a Monkees one too but I can't remember which one. SS, I was ape over Davy Jones instead of Mickey Dolenz. Remember their Saturday morning show? Your older sister ended up with the drummer -- do you mean in the Biblical sense? hehe

Um, it was "The Purple People Eater". Someone gave it to me.

The first one I actually bought was, I think, "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again", by the immortal Eric Carmen (1975). <wince>

Once upon a time, my children were obsessed with this song:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JcPz850o3d4

And they played it in my car and yodeled it and sang at the top of their lungs whenever it turned up on the radio. And I had it on the brain.

But one day, while I was driving into work, I noted that "I am Cow" was not, in fact on my brain. And I rejoiced. But two traffic lights later, I kid you not, the morning guy on the radio played it. And I was dismayed.

So I wrote to the morning guy and complained bitterly that he had managed to return "I Am Cow" to my poor hippocampus and that I was not a happy hippocamper.

And the Morning Guy (who deserves to be named as David Grierson, may he rest in peace), emailed me back, saying that he completely understood, and apologised, and felt that he needed to atone for his error by sharing this little brain-scrubber. And now, my friends, I share it with you.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9hGlYT38DZY
