This intrigues me.

I don't want to assume anything, but is the on air talent made up of students?

If so, does the station format change as the students graduate or do they remain consistent as to type of music played, AM/PM "shows", etc

It's both students and volunteers. WZBC has a show called Gulls Window Circus where the guy has been there for at least 13 years. And there's a few guys and women on WMBR who've been there a long time. But a couple of shows that played doom metal and dub and techno ended when the students graduated and they were replaced by different format. WMBR and WZBC play just about anything you won't hear on commercial rock stations but emphasize indie rock, hard rock (punk, metal ) a lot of techno and a show on ZBC called No Commercial Potential every night that plays off the wall spacey stuff. WMBR plays oldies not played on commercial oldies stations and jazz in the afternoon. These are mostly volunteer shows as are the shows on the weekends which have more country, world music, and news shows . WHRB plays classical and jazz except for orgies in the winter where they play one artist all day (i.e. Siouzie and the Banshees, Ornette Coleman) I think they are mostly students but the format doesn't change. WERS I don't know. They are a little more mainstream but with no commercials in the daytime. Reggae and Rap at night. WCHC is basically an indie rock I-Pod (I first heard Regina Spektor on that station) with no D-Jays and no playlist most of the time with some mostly bland mainstream student shows during the school.year, along with Holy Cross football and basketball.
