Its no secret mine is Badwater.

Comrades
WS
Badwater
Probably too many to mention, but I dream to race:

Massanutten 100
Comrades Marathon
Spartathlon
Ooh. I forgot that one!
I really really want to do Massanutten, especially after my last race, i feel more confident. I was debating doing it this year, but i think Old Dominion Memorial 100 (2 weeks later) is a better bet for my BW resume. UNLESS my coach says i can do both, which i doubt I will finalize next year after the Western States lottery.

dg1- are you gonna throw your name in the hat for WS this year? i forget if i asked you already or not.
AC100, Plain, ATY, C4P (now back, sorta), Hardwalk.
My dreams are still pretty small.

The race this Saturday is one of them.

After that, the Tussey Mountainback. I've done it as part of a relay team, and I've done a long run on part of the course, and someday I would like to do the 50 miler. In addition to training up to the length, I will need some vast improvements in my pace to make the cutoffs. I highly doubt this will be my first 50 miler, I will need to find a kinder, gentler one for that.

After that, Laurel Highlands. What a beautiful part of the state.

Those are far far in my future.
WS - without the drama
Spartathalon
Hardrock
I am not running Badwater
Any race where I would meet merigayle (sorry I can't be sugar daddy).
I do not think i could ever do Hardrock. I am deathly afraid of heights and some of those trails are scary in pictures! lol.
I just want to prove to myself that I am a goat. I'll have to move out that way first though. I won't even dream while I am living in Michigan.
what's the elevation there?
As a wanna-be, quasi ultrarunner, I'll chime in...

Gotta be Comrades for me. Badwater is intriguing in a scared sh!tless kinda way, but Comrades sounds so exotic and far away. I should probably start off with doing a 100 miler before I start talking too much though!
You could start with Comrades The more i run and the more races i do, the more scary Badwater becomes, if that makes sense?
Mostly between 10 & 14K feet, with over a half-dozen forays over 13K. 33K+ total elevation gain, and virtually all the trail is really bad and exposed. It's more of a "100 mile mountain climb" than it is a trail race.

This was one of Scott Jurek's two goal races for 2007, and his winning time was 26:08! Of course, Scott is all inexperienced and not very talented so...
as Kirk Johnson said in his book, the longer the race takes, the harder it is. 48 hours to complete Hardrock says a lot about the technicality and difficulty of this race.
My dream race is maybe more of a matter of pride. Did not finish the Pittsfield Ultra challenge last year so next year I'm gonna get my revenge. I'm already signed up.

I would love to do massanutteten race in a few years. Saw the video Two runners 100 miles and should be a tough challenge.

http://www.peak.com/ultrachallenge.htm

http://www.peak.com/
HI Roly!!!!!!! Are you coming out to VT this weekend?
And oh, there are at least a dozen races on the west coast on my dream list...

I'd like to but with my luck I'd get picked on the first try. I gotta' get a few 50's and Umstead out of the way first. Ask me again in 11 days...
Roly- you picked that race as your first 50M, that was INSANE. You gave an incredible effort and will kick its ass next year
