And by decent I mean "Not last out of the water or laughed out of the triathlon."

Just the swim, or also considering distance from water to transition?<br><br>
"Decent" will mean a wide range of times, considering the swimmer. Me = 400m in the pool, 9min is a good time. Never raced 400m, though. I'm just a lap swimmer, never competed.<br><br>
In the few sprint tris I've done, the distance is never consistent and the distance to the transition area varies. At one tri, I expected a 400m swim and found out mid-swim that the buoy was set for 800m! I have no clue.
