And what are you doing about it?<br><br>
can you tell from these threads I'm doing lots of soul searching for the 2008 season? <img alt="roll_eyes.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/roll_eyes.gif"><br><br>
Oh yeah, and my answer is Running Fast.<br><br>
I hired a running coach this year and I will resume with her. I'm having to evolve/change my form because although I am extremely efficient, I'll never get faster without a serious change. Like the whole "you gotta life your leg up off the ground thing... " yeah that was news to me and my hip flexors. I buzzed the ground, all the time. Minimum height possible. Efficient, yes. Fast, no. So... I started that evolution and I continue it through to this season. Hopefully, in time for it to impact racing.

Bike! I'm a good runner and thought that would help in the bike but I was wrong. I just can't push a hard pace for a long time. I started training with an indoor powermeter a few months ago and I do have a coach who is helping me with this. I think its helping, but won't know until I race in April. I'll definitely have a lot of bike questions for the forum when I start my build third week in Jan.<br><br>
I could also stand to swim faster.

Hmm.... I think somebody is quite the habitual thread starter <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif"><br><br>
Guess that happens though if one is doing some soul searching.<br><br>
For myself, I've just started training again and have just started to train for tris. So everything needs improvement.<br><br>
I really have to get some time in the pool though. Swimming is what I stink at. Well, can one stink at it if you can't even do it? I tried to do some swimming last summer but got discouraged because I couldn't even get across the pool - and I think it was at most 25 yards across.<br><br>
Anyway, much time will be spent in the YMCA pool (hopefully receiving some lessons there), getting tips from my girlfriend, and reading / watching TI.

Jahona...a year before my IM I couldn't swim 25y either w.out sucking water and choking.<br><br>
A few lessons w/a good swim coach goes a looooooooong way! Technique is most important...if you've got that...everything else will fall into place.

Tell me, when you're hammering away on the biike, what is your cadence? (Serious question.) Are you at 90 or above, or are you habitually under and pushing a larger gear?

At first I had the HARDEST time doing 90 or above...<br>
Once I got used to it there was no going back...<br>
I can't seem to spin 90 on hills. What's a good hill cadence?

This sounds DUMB...and I felt DUMB when Sheldawg and I had this conversation on a hot and sweaty July evening. I was like you. KICK KICK I suck at KICK!<br><br>
I had my yellow TYR kickboard.<br><br>
Sheldon then laughed at me and asked my WHY I wasn't doing kick on side, kick on back, etc. It was like a LIGHTBULB went off...I thought Kick meant you had to do kickboard.<br><br>
Once I ditched that puppy there was no going back!

its my first year do tri's so i suck at all 3. i can now swim 100 meters need to add in 3 more before may no problem there and 1400 for july should be no problem there either.<br>
on the bike i can ride i am just not sure where i stand. I read a book i cant remember which one that said to keep the cadence up at 100. So the past few months i have been doing that. I really need to learn to shift gears though as where i live its flat and i havent changed gears in awhile.<br>
on the run i just suck. need to lose weight and build a better base. thats what the half marathon training i am getting ready to start is for.

1! on the running.<br>
I can't find the "happy place"<br><br>
I think my "happy place" is in the pool....I can find it quick.<br><br>
I'm starting to see glimpses of it on runs...but, I find that I have to concentrate too much to let the happy place come to me.<br><br>
I'll be working with a Sports Acceleration person this year....fitting it in with the timing of things will be interesting, though. She helped the first time I did it, but I've lost it since then.<br><br>
I ALSO suck at breast stroke (my coach said so!). We're constantly working on it. She says that it's no longer something she "can't stand to watch"....I've progressed to it just being bad. <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

Oh holy crap!!<br>
That's too funny.<br><br>
Did you know that it's physiologically impossible to swim AND laugh at the same time? I tried it. I sank. It wasn't pretty.<br><br>
When my coach just shook her head and said, "I don't care if you want to work on it or not. We've GOT to do something about your breast stroke. I just can't STAND LOOKING AT IT ANYMORE!" I was on a rest interval in the middle of a set. I took off for the next rep and nearly drowned.<br><br>
I'm thinkin' that wasn't very sporting of her......

What do I stink at? At every part of myself, after a tempo run in mid-summer heat <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"><br><br>
Actually, I stink at swimming. My goal for this year should be not to be the last one out of the lake anymore.<br><br>
And speaking of kicking... me too, it would take me 5 minutes to kick across the pool. But I started taking swimming lessons, and when the coach keeps yelling and I really focus, I'm able to get some amazing speed while kicking. I just have to stop kicking from my knees and just do it from my ass.

Yes Tithers, is the last transition you run to, for beer, burgers, and getting the bike back to the car. I used to be Chrisuletz, but had to try to signup like 3 times here, and each time had to use a different name and email, cause it would keep telling me the account is active, although it wasn't.

Swim. I still suck at swimming. Need to find some $$$ so I can work with my swim coach again.<br><br>
Continuing to make progress with running.<br><br>
Cycling. Obviously not as fast as I could be, but not sure what to do.

Good for you for doing this soul searching. It's great for all of us actually.<br><br>
Me: I suck at nutrition. Not while training but in everyday life. I just eat too much. I don't horrible, just too much. I hate that!! And of course my weight effects my performance. At 5ft 8in and 160lbs, I am sure I could take a ton of time off if I could loose 15lbs.
