I had my appointment with the podiatrist on Saturday, to try and sort out my shin pain. The one I went to specialises in sports podiatry and he was very thorough.

Seems I have periostitis in both my shins, but the right is worse. He's recommended orthotics, which I'm going to get made in the next couple of weeks, and an ice/massage technique to the area. He also wants me to keep running, rather than rest them. Apart from having very bad foot conformation, my gait is such that I land hard full on my whole foot, if that makes sense, which causes impact on my lower legs.

I've temporarily got heel lifts in, and it's really different to run in them. My legs ache in places they've never ached in before, and I struggled to reach 4km yesterday. I guess my limbs have to get used to working in a different position.

Still, I'm hopeful that my shins will end up fixed. It's a bit of a nuisance to be sore all the time.

Have a good week

Hey Audrey, good to hear that your dr. wants you to keep running! I hope this will do the trick for you.
