Well it's about time for me to celebrate one year with the 30s

It was in late March last year that I was sitting at work thinking about what to do to get in shape. Spring was starting and I was ready to start walking in our park again. Yet a friend had mentioned in passing "well you do more good if you run than walking". Yeah...... logically sound. So I google "running plans" and see something called C25K. When I click on that link it takes me to some place called www.coolrunning.com.

After asking tons of newbie questions I notice a daily 30's thread. I dip my toe in the water and WHAMMO- one year and a new website (THANK GOODNESS) later........

It's been an interesting year for me. I learned a lot of negative things about myself. Things such as........I am a liar. I apologize to you all for not keeping my word:

"are you kidding, I'm not paying big bucks just for a pair of shoes to run in? It's not that important."

-later I drove over an hour and a half to the closest Fleet Feet store to get professionally fitted shoes by a veteran of 40 marathons

"I'm not running any races, I'll never do that. I just want to lose a little weight"

-later I run a 5k and has a second on tap in about a month

"wik socks? Erm........ it's not that serious for me but thanks"

-later to discover they are most comfy socks in the world for running or casual and I throw away all the old school tube socks.

"it's too cold here in the winter. I'll probably have to stop around November and resume in March"

-later to buy an entire new wardrobe of sweatshirts, pants, gloves, pull over hood that covers everything but my eyes, etc. and did not miss one run in the winter months due to temperature.

I could probably list others but you get the idea. So funny those famous last words.

I've also had to sacrifice and have lost much since I met you all... about 5 pounds and 4+ inches in the waist.

Ok this part I have dreaded........the thank you list. I almost don't want to because I will forget someone. IF I do no offense intended. I tried to think of everyone I could. Also there are some of you I don't know well but would like to in "year 2". But here goes my humble attempt:

McTortle: Mary you are just so freaking.......fun. Your posts just make me smile almost by default.
