Happy Hump Day Wednesday! I'm glad it's here...the latter part of my week should be lower-stress!

I did a resistance workout this morning, huffing and puffing. Then I hopped on the treadmill for 2 EZ-PZ miles.

Because I was doing just a shorty-short run, I opted not to turn on an episode of Nip/Tuck as I've been doing recently. Instead, I turned on a National Geographic special on Yosemite, thinking that the beautiful scenery would prove inspirational. Instead, the images of folks climbing up El Cap triggered my fear of heights, and I spent most of my run feeling as if I was going to go spinning off of my treadmill! I held on and got it done by just taking sneak peeks at the screen, and mostly just listening. I think I'll watch the rest of it firmly planted in a chair!

Hi Robin,

10 moh at 67 muggy degrees this morning. Suppose to be in upper 30's this time next week! Planned to run a 5 mile tempo in the middle but had nothing this morning.

Hi morning runners. You inspire me & I'm gonna try to get up early tomorrow for my tempo run. Shifting things back today from evening to lunchtime for my easy run + circuits + easy run.

BTY, you made an interesting observation in yesterday's thread. If you look at my intervals yesterday, they're mostly in the range McMillan suggests based on my 5k time trial. But that 10k predictor of 51:33 would kill me Sat. Fortunately, Brooke has no such expectations because this is so early in the season.

Good Morning DocTravers, KS, and Opie!

Today is my rest day inbetween my two hill workouts this week. YAY! I wanted a rest day! Going to head down to Ashland on my lunch break and buy something. I received a 25% off an item coupon in my email from them the other day, but it's good for this week only. So, I hadn't planned on buying new shoes yet, but at a 25% savings, can't hardly let that one pass. Just getting the same shoes that I currently have as they are working well for me. Also going to check out what trail races they are organizing this year and make a point to do one.

Greetings, Masterfuls.
Today I flung some dumb bells around for a spell, then embarked on a 3-mile run. Lots of muscles got some work today, so I am pleased with that.
Thanks for the welcome-back. This board is awesome.

Good runs, all

Yay, Tamster's coming over to the trail side of life!

Hi Robin, KS and Opie!

Hi Baba!

Nice to see the dailies getting off to an earlier start.

4 SEP miles at lunch in the bright sunshine, down thru the park, with yesterday's dusting of snow still mostly fresh.

Glorious! Had originally planned on 5, but my knee's been hurting off and on for a bit when walking, and rather badly since yesterday, so figured I wouldn't push it. Iced this morning. Didn't feel it at all during the run (best it's been for the last 24 hrs!) and it seems to be mostly fine now. Odd.

Good Afternoon, Rockin', huffin' and puffin' Robin, muggy ksr with nuthin', death defying Opie, shoe shoppin Tammy, returning, dumbbell flingin' Baba, and odd-kneed Heme.

This week I am trying this out for a winter routine. Early in the morning on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I'm doing an abbreviated stretching routine, a difficult (for me) core workout, and I'm running at lunchtime with some co-workers at their easy pace - about 10:30/mile. Tuesday and Thursday I am doing a longer stretching workout, but no core workout, and then a harder (but still "Easy") running workout, around 8:00/mile pace. So far I think I like it. I'll wait until Saturday and Sunday to decide if I do the thorough stretching or shorter stretching workouts each day, and if I rest from core exercises one or both days.

So today was a short stretching workout, a difficult core workout, and 5-miles at lunchtime at 10:30 pace.

Opie, I don't know what the conditions are like in your part of Oklahoma, but I know that where I am in upstate NY, all race predictions are out the window during the winter months. Bulky clothes, tedious headwinds and crosswinds (why don't we ever get tailwinds?), and hesitant muscles all conspire to make me race much more slowly than McMillan suggests. Not to mention, I haven't done any intervals since October and probably won't do any until we get a midwinter thaw induced 60 degree sunny day in February or March, so there is no turnover in my legs. In fact, yesterday while I was trying to decide if my "Easy" running was easy or maybe dipping into Steady State, I realized I probably couldn't run a 5k race any faster than whai I was running at that moment. I decided not to think about it any more.

Well, I was inspired by Doc Robin's avatar photo this morning, and so I decided to try on all my bathing suits. I figured since I was down all that weight, something's gotta fit, right? Needless to say, MrOM is now booking that February kidless getaway to Aruba...

8.55 miles around noontime (I had a lot of bathing suits to try on), on really tired legs. My plan was to run at a 10 min/mile pace, but the run was definitely not a recovery run. Guess that speed workout yesterday really wore me out.... maybe tomorrow should be a rest day, considering I haven't taken a day off since last year...

Brian, I can get by with pretty light gear (Brooks, of course). We have pretty good conditions for much of the fall & winter.

Intervals take a lot out of a runner. I felt fine during the before-and-after-runs, but during the circuits I was straining on the weights and my HR was higher than usual on the cardio, 130-143 during only 30-second sessions on the elliptical & bike between weights.

eta-OM, you're not the only one inspired by Robin's bikini.

Yo, Masters,

Welcome back Baba.

I like to keep my plans simple. Today's plan was to w/u for 2 miles then run an 8 mile at tempo. Screw McMillan. His charts are too aggressive. I managed 7 at 7:57 avg pace (his steady state) and then decided to keep my fitness for an LR on Fri by using mile 10 as a c/d. 20F, light wind and sunny. Can't complain about the weather, but damn that run kicked my a$$. The weird thing was my HR never got above 160.

Any news on Ben? I'll check the other thread...

Opie will appreciate this: this week alone, 5 cases: 'conceded and dismissed' upon receipt of my suppression motion. The attorneys are joking about the DA's being scared of me.
