...Just a brief hijack with no mention of food or recipes...<br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">So, my friend, Econo, is the quintessential professor. A year or so ago, I was telling her about DS1's interest in economics and government and how I wish I had some information to share with him, etc.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Not one to miss a "teaching moment", Econo refers me to a book I should recommend to DS1. She says it's about a lawyer who shakes up Wall Street, etc.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">When I couldn't find the book at Booksamillion, Econo, always helpful Econo, <i>sends</i> Joe (DS1) the book!</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">"What a nice friend!", thinks I. "She will be a mentor to my son." "How lucky are we to know Econo."</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Joe begins to read the book, but, his senioritis takes charge and he only reads the first few chapters before putting it on the shelf. This was last year.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">I asked him what he thought about what he read. He tells me he thought the guy was a little arrogant and full of himself but, he did do a lot.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">We don't talk about this again and the book still sits on his bookshelf in his room here at home after he moves out to Blacksburg and into his dorm.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Lilmissrosie and Joe came home for Easter this weekend. We had a grand time, although times always goes too fast when they come home.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">We had a big family Easter meal at my little sister's house yesterday. After food and cleaning up and talking and this and that. Some of us sit down to play a game "Luck of the Draw" Sort of pictionary and apples to apples game. Pretty simple and conducive to chatting between rounds.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">One of the players had to leave, so Joe sat down beside me, his lovely mother, and the game continues.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Then, for some reason, Joe says, "Hey Mom. Remember that book you made me read, that one your friend Econo recommended?"</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">I said, "Yes, I do remember."</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Joe gets a huge grin on his face and chuckles a bit. "Do you know who it was about?"</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">"No, I don't recall the guy's name."</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">Joe says, "Eliot Spitzer."</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">The whole table cracks up.</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">So we just wanted to say, "Thanks for grins and chuckles, Professor Econo."</span></span><br><br><span style="font-size:medium;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">But seriously, we do appreciate your contributions to Joe's education. He is thrilled with his economics classes and is happy to be pursuing his degree in your field.</span></span>
