Anything exciting this weekend? The forecast looked stunning but it never turned out as nice as predicted, but I enjoyed a really nice 3+ hour run in my neighborhood with my running partner.

Not much here. Couple of 2ish hour runs. Tapering for a race this coming weekend. It was warm, but really really windy... the warm winds turned the trails into a giant Slurpee...but it was still fun to get out in shorts!

Easy 2 hour run in Lynn Valley/Mount Seymour area with 8 buddies. We got soaked midway through, but that only help make the coffee at the local hang-out that much more enjoyable.

Interesting observation....lately have been seeing many large groups of women runners....not just women running with large groups, but large groups consisting solely of women trail runners.

Is is the same with you, or is this a local thing?

Ditto on the forecast... warmish, but win-dee!

Still, did what felt like my first "real" longish run since summer - 3.5 hours.

Even strapped on the old hydration pack... glad I did. It's clear I have to train for the bruising again!

I look forward to meeting runNVtrails in July. :)

I ran a loop at Umstead on Saturday, it was beautiful weather, and the hills on Turkey Creek were just as steep as always. - Then on Sunday the pups and I took part in a "Geezer Pleezer" run it was a 4 mile race that is handicapped by age - I had a 2.5 minute head start for being an old fart. It was the fastest I have ever run in a race of any distance ever. Quite proud.

Here is Sarah and Wilbur after their PR effort - Sarah is ready to go again I think. Jimbo and Wilbur were not

Great shots runNYtrails!

I ran the Holiday Lake 50K. The first in the series of Horton races. I was a bit disappointed with my time but given my miles going into the race it's hard to complain. It was a great day for a run: sunny, cool temps. Other than the few miles along the power line access road (or whatever is on those poles) it was great.

As an amusing side note: my father-in-law's entire response to my race report:

>>from report>> a run along a power line access road (or telephone lines. It had big wooden poles and wires. I didn't touch them to see what they did.)

>> response (ENTIRE response)>> "at least you were still thinking clearly."

If it was a Horton race, it was probably 15% longer than advertised...your time may have been great!
