Where is everyone?

3 miles [running] down, 3 more [walking] to go with Gus. Nice and cool morning. The big wind we had yesterday had the nuts flying, literally, so the road is a bit treacherous today, even though it's light.

Tonya!!! How's it going? I've been thinking about you.

And who else is racing? I'm having a brain fart.

Greetings all. 3M on the TM this AM. Left knee is still a tad bit wonky after the half on Sunday, but it's getting back to normal. Hoping to get back to a steady workout routine this coming week!

Morning gang...

4 easy miles for me today, 10 on the schedule for tomorrow and then it's nothing longer than 3 miles until next Sunday.

spoke to Tonya this morning. Relayed all the well wishes from yesterday. She walked 22.5 miles yesterday and they have 21.5 on tap for today. She said she was a tiny bit stiff/sore and only had one blister, other than that all is good. And she said "thanks".

Go weekend racers!

I needed to get away, so I drove to the shore last night and had a nice dinner out with my parents. Haven't done that in a long time. I was so tired I think I was asleep before 10:30pm and didn't get out of bed until 8am (although I woke up, as usual, several times). Probably could've slept another 2 hours.

Went for an hour+ bike ride at the beach and then jumped into the ocean. It's rough from all the storms out at sea, but the water was sooooo nice. Probably in the low 70's. Awesome.

Nice workouts so far, folks.

I cut my longish run short at 9.5 miles (was supposed to be 12). Shin was feeling funky yesterday and still did this morning, so I didn't want to push it. It feels funky when I'm just sitting or walking, but actually felt ok while running. Probably just taper crazies. Plus I have lots of walking at the Science Musuem with DS to do today. I'm super super excited to race next week!

afternoon

I did 5 this morning at a race (but didn't race) with the pups. Her longest run in a very long time. My shins are still acting funny so I decided against the 5k. Our team however represented with the overall men's winner and 2 age groupers! woot!

10 on tap tomorrow and then the week of taper. sigh...

Fly by post. One kiddo soccer game down, one to go. It's still pushing 90 out there. When's the fall weather going to get here? Ugh!

I met up with my group this morning. did an easy 15.5 miles. Legs felt pretty good post marathon. Hoping to get that fresh leg feeling before I toe the line in two weeks time. (that rhymes)

Afternoon all! Summer is def back here again so shortly after meeting up with Elyssa for a LR this morning we decided to keep the whole thing (with just running over the GWB and back as an exception) on the trails of the Palisades. Such fun! Over the GWB into NJ and along the long trail out to the ranger's station and then back again only changing course in the last 3+ miles to descend to the level of the Hudson and ascend back to bridge height via some awesome cliff stairs. I was breathing like I was in labor but damn it felt good! 18.75 miles in total.

I had a nice run this morning. About 8.5 in perfect running weather (low 50s, overcast and breezy). I am going to jump in to a 10K tomorrow. Gah - I HATE 10Ks. But I LOVE racing and am looking forward to it. Going out tonight with friends to hear DH's band. Should be a good time.

It's chilly here this morning (49°) - would be perfect for a run, but I just don't have the brain power. (Crap night of sleep, see other thread.) So I'm thinking about a walk with Gus, but need to find a fleece first.

Whew - didn't hit the sack until 2:00 am, so this racing thing should be inneresting. And I woke up with a wicked sore throat. But it is a bright, cooll morning - should be fun!

a little over 2 miles this morning with my 7 y/o and 9 y/o nieces. We ran to the high school, ran a bit around the track, then ran home. They are both far faster than me, one loves distance running but the younger one has more of a sprinter mentality. She did mostly run/walk intervals.

WOO HOO!

***WARNING SELF-LAUDATORY POST*****

Seriously! I just had a much-needed GREAT* race. I have added the asterisk because it was in no way a PR, but it was a terrific race nonetheless. I was up until 2 am last night and I woke up with a wicked head cold and sore throat. But I dragged my butt out of bed and went to the race. It was a perfect morning - 50 degrees, sunny and breezy. The 10K race goes through the UW Arboretum, and is a wicked hilly course.

For background, I HATE 10Ks. I am terrible at them. Every time I have run them, I feel like absolute death the last 2 miles. Not today baby. My goal was to run 7:30s and just maintain. Not only did I pull that off, but ran a negative split! Yay!

Here are the deets:

Mile 1: 7:21

Mile 2: 7:32

Mile 3: 7:47 (wicked long hill)

Mile 4: 7:20

Mile 5: 7:14

Mile 6: 7:10 (long uphill too!

Last .2: 6:25 (although my watch measured it as .28)

46:15 - was 12th woman and got 2nd in my AG. Sweet. Hardware. Now, this is 2 minutes off my course personal best, but I am still really happy. I felt great the entire time. And did I mention that negative split? Woot.
