Good Morning!

I'm up a little early, not too bad, for the race. The weather is crazy windy (we can hear it in the hotel room) and around 50. I think the windchill will be around 40 or so at the race. That is pretty nice and cool for me. I don't know how much the 25mph wind will change the pace, it' s loop course. I guess I'll see once we are running. Hopefully some gigantic guy will be running my pace just ahead of me the entire time.

Good Luck Nettie and Bob!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hey all...lots of absenteeism(?) for me lately. Sorry 'bout that. Not much time to hang on the 'puter. Haven't read the treads from the past few days. Hope all is well.
Good luck to you racers today...Jen, boB, & Nettie (and anyone else I missed) - fleet feet to you all.
Jen - looks like the tornados in Jacksonville didn't scoop you up thankfully. Hope all is well down there (that is where you are I think)
Maples - enjoy the white stuff.

I'm heading out for 22 when DW gets back. Not feeling too strong today - bad sleep, etc. I got a late call y'day from my sitter so I was able to get my 6m in. I chalked yesterday up to a 'rest' day.
We have a window in the rain right now - hope it hangs around for another 3+ hours.
Good weekends, workouts & runs.
Later all.

Thanks, everyone. I'm looking forward to the race tomorrrow. I hear it's a somewhat hilly course, so I may not be able to get my 20k PR. But that's okay. I'm really just using it as a fun run anyway. I'll say that my goal is around 1:45. (My PR, set in New Haven last year, is 1:42:22). Anything better than that is gravy...

I just finished 6 very easy miles this morning. Maggie has gone out to an all-day scrapbooking class, so it's just me and Jillian today. We're gonna have a fun day.

Good luck to Jen and Nettie!

Snowbound...we got about a foot yesterday, more than the entire amount we've gotten this winter. It's quite pretty but I'm already ready for it to be gone. The group run tomorrow is already shaping up to be a test of wills - some guys want to go for it despite the snow, but I don't know how jazzed I am to be out in the middle of the streets sliding around in snow at a 8:30/mile pace for 3.5 hours when I was hoping the workout would be 17-18 miles at 7:30 and then goal MP for the last 6 miles or so. We'll see - I don't see the city being on the ball enough to deal with this much snow, so I am thinking I'll be indoors tomorrow!

Good luck to the racers - I'm going to see if I can find some early results...anyone know Jen's last name?

Aw, have fun with your father-daughter day, Bob!

and 2oh, I just love that avatar of yours. My niece and I both had hair like Paige's when we were babies.

No run today, courtesy of the weather. I put a photo up in the fun thread showing what it looks like here. It is the biggest storm to hit Central Ohio in years, in terms of total snowfall. Usually our worst storms involve less snow and more ice.

If I make it to church tomorrow, I should be able to get some time on the indoor track. I can't imagine running 11 miles that way (good God, that would be 88 laps) but I could manage 5 at least. While I do not have the high mileage base that most of you have, I have run these longer distances for long enough that I feel confident that I won't have any problems running 12 next Saturday no matter what happens this weekend. I'm still more consistent with my training than I was in the fall, and my fall HM didn't go too badly.

Pacer, yeah my issue with running today is more that I did not trust being able to safely drive the 5 miles to my running store. I could have run in this weather, I've done it before, although 11 mile might not have happened. The sidewalks and streets won't be cleared for at least another day, so I'd have been shuffling through 8-10" myself. I'd probably be more tired after 5 miles of that than I'd have been running 11 miles on clear pavement.

Becca, my 4M were soggy, too. Took the pup along and he was loving life, of course. Of course, he was running on the wrong side of me at the end of the run and then stopped right in front of me and tripped me. Thankfully, I fell as gracefully as possible and did no harm to my knees and arm. The last time he did that to me I ended up with a bloody elbow and I still retain the scar. It's huge! Anyway, I guess I should take him out with me more often.

Can't wait to hear how our racers do!

I'd be fine running a few miles in this snow for the fun of it, but by March the novelty of the snow wears off for me, and I really wanted to get some quality miles in. Plus the city has issued a snow emergency so no driving unless it's an emergency (and - as charming and as convincing as I can be - I don't think the excuse of "But if I don't get this long run in, Lance Armstrong may beat me!" is considered an emergency to the police)

[email protected]#%&!!!! My run sucked this morning. Probably a good sign that going out and having a few beers and getting home late doesn't work well with a speed workout the next morning.

I was supposed to do ~6 miles, with 4 Tempo-pace miles interval-mixed into the middle. It's pouring rain here, so I went to the gym and hit the TM. Well, about 1/2 way through the second T-pace mile, my shins felt like they were going to explode and I almost passed out.

Gathered my stuff, headed home, drank some gatorade, ate part of a bagel, and then set out in the pouring rain to finished my run outside. That worked much better. whew!

Time for a shower and food.
Good runs to all today!

Hey all,

Ran with the group this morning, 7.29 miles in EXACTLY 1:00:00. That was interesting to have happen, maybe I should buy tix for the 200MM powerball today!

Good vibes going out to the racers today!

First racer in and I have to keep this short because I get to work this weekend (joy!), so remember how my 5K PR was set this past September at 27:57?

Well, today, in the coldest race I have ever run (17-20 degrees with considerable winds on some portions), I unofficially ran a 25:57!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe this sh!t. Ha!

I hope the PR vibeys are catching this weekend.
