Couldn't come up with an "R" fitness word.

Hi all--started the other thread--have had a hard time with posting from work lately due to work being sooooo busy and also this thread and my work laptop are having a tiff. I can log in, but not always. I can stay in, but not always. (I don't mean that Fridayesque).

I have been reading the thread and we have lots of racing and LR's...even a few Tri's out there! Yay!

We also have some injuries...(including my dumb twingey hip/piriformis, which I am doing OK with but no-go fast and I'm stretching and icing like a crazy woman).

Tmw Big G and my friend T and I are doing our last LR!!! Sage will be athletic supporter.

I can't tell you how ready I am to taper. This training cycle really kicked my butt this year. :)

Fast and pretty, number on the front or slow and long and no number at all to everyone this weekend!

I just had a bite to eat, and soon I'll be going out for a long run. Looks like it'll be a beautiful morning for it.

Hi folks. I'm up for my local 5k. After a craptastic night of sleep, I have no plans for a course PR. Survival is the only thing on my mind atm.

I never got back in yesterday and said GO AILARIE! So there you have it! Girl, I don't know how you do it. I've had one week of sleep struggles and I'm a puddle of mess.

Good luck Alexis, Mindi and DrT as well! Annnd I'm missing someone again, I'm sure of it. Litch is running double digits for the first time since 2009? What else?

Currently coffe-ing up and making oatmeal, getting ready for a 10 miler. And the 20 miles tomorrow with Crane and her pal T. Gorgeous weather here. I should be super excited about getting out there but I just feel tired. rats.

I'm stealing Ailarie's line cuz I'm just not sharp enough this a.m. to come up with my own: Run / bike / swim pretty and safe today, everyone!

Did you get on that silly TM last night, BigGee?

No treadmill for me last night. I really was going to though! I was all dudded up and had my iPod on and everything and went downstairs to find that DS had fallen asleep on the couch down there. Really quite early for him on a Friday, which is GOOD since his sleep habits are super crap. I couldn't bring myself to wake him up and at that point it was too late to go to the gym so I just called it a day. boo.

I'm waiting for my Garmin to charge (doh! I just do NOT have my poop in a group this week!)) and then heading out for 10.

Morning all! Got out for an amazing run up the Hudson and into NJ via the GW Bridge, spent a few miles in Palisades Park and then crossed back over into NY. Savored every second while running across the bridge looking down the river to where the WTC formerly stood. Amazing love to everyone no longer with us, everyone who lost someone and to my amazing resilient city. 14 miles in total.

I'm sure it would be emotional running in NYC today. Sounds like it was an inspirational run Maria.

BigG and Crane - Good luck with the 20 miles tomorrow! I have my last 20 miler too. Not sure what my plan is - probably an out and back somewhere near my house, pretty early.

Ailarie - how did the 5k go? Hope you survived!

Lora - belated hugs to you and hang in there. 30 days really isn't that long. Now it's what, 28? You can do it. And it will be SO worth it if you end up fixed!

I was super unmotivated to run during the work week, so saved my 11 miler for this morning (not ideal with 20 miles tomorrow). It ended up being a great run. Got lots of thinking stuffs done.

Good runs and races to all.

Oof. I just came back from my long run. I ended up with 22.91 miles. That's the farthest I've ever run outside of a race. (Previous high was 22.25). And before anyone asks, I had no thoughts about stretching it to 26.2 I did not have another 3.3 miles in me. My average pace was 9:07, which'll do.

Overall, I guess I felt pretty good. Was it dumb to run that far today? Eh, probably. Well, now it's taper time. And I think I've earned an afternoon of football and greasy food, before I spend the next three weeks trying to eat well. I just hope I can stay awake to enjoy the games this afternoon...

I'm back. Course PR for me by maybe 45ish seconds or so. I'm pleased. After the race, for some unknown reason, even though I was sweating like crazy and everyone around me was fanning themselves due to the heat, I had chill bumps and was FREEZING. Enough to walk a few blocks to grab a towel from the car and use it like a heat shield to wrap myself up. Weird. Maybe 15-20 minutes later, I was fine, but that was a very strange feeling, to be cold when it was maybe 72-75 outside.

After various errands, cereal sounds in order for lunch. Might be due to the fact that I was smelling Kix cereal from the local General Mills plant during the run.

I'm trying to bulk him up. He's getting kinda mad, though. (One of our kitties has asthma--fall sucks for him)

LORA--30 days?? I misread and thought it was less. I'm really sorry, but as I said to Jenn last night, it's almost better to know for sure and take the time you need instead of constantly struggling and trying and not getting better and trying some more. I really get how dissapointed you must be, though.

Did a breezy 5-- GREAT day but it just wasn't in me. Struggled the whole way for 5. WTF? SUPER excited to run with my wimmins Sun and have Sagey as our water stop person. I need my mojo back and these are the people to give it to me.

Aily!! SEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Strong and fast emotionally and physically! Yay, you!

Great story, Maria. I'm sure it's a moving day where you are.

Bob, you are gonna be great. Hit that 22, now taper...see you next in MSP, my friend!

Yay Ailarie! That is awesome! I've had that happen a couple times in the last 2 weeks too (the coldness). I chalk it up to being so darn acclimated to the heat that 70 degrees feels chilly now.

Bob! Solid run - way to go. I don't usually go that far either, but I don't think it is a bad thing. Just make sure you rehydrate before you hit the game day beers.

I just ran 10.5 miles. All felt really good. Hopefully that is not too much the day before racing a half, but I really need the miles if I want to do Chicago. I have been such a slacker this season. Funny part of run - came *this* close to being completely crapped on by a bird. Had my stride been just an inch longer I would have gotten a full spattering. Ick. But so glad it missed me!!

Guilty pleasure right now: flavor blasted goldfish. Carbo loading, right?

Umm, I thought I did. I gulped down a few glasses of water and a couple glasses of chocolate milk when I got back. I also weighed myself right after the run (like I often do) and nothing was out of the ordinary. But over the last half hour or so, I've had some nasty cramps/charley horses come and go. Ouch! Those things hurt like a bastard! My wife and daughter are out shopping and I'm just sitting here watching football by myself. I yelped on the couch a few times when the cramps kicked in and I think I've scared the bejeesus out of the cat. She was sitting right next to me, but she's now scampered away and I don't know where she went. I think she's frightened of me now.

That is crazy - I hope those cramps go away soon, Bob. It was cool here during my run (upper 50s to mid 60s) but still over 90% humidity. I only ran 10 miles and was shocked to see I lost over 2 lbs during the run. So I am gulping down the water too.

I just bought completely black running shoes--it's what they had in what worked well. Okie dokie.

The guy at the store kept saying, "I can get you a different color." I said, "Heck no! Who runs completely BLACK shoes? I love it!!!" Funny--my first TCM was run in cherry red ones which was also a fluke. My planned outfit for TCM will also be all black...

Great runs so far, everyone! As always, very nice work by our 30s crew!

I'd forgotten about the Millville 10k race this weekend until someone emailed me about it late yesterday afternoon. So I got up this morning and decided to head on over for it. I've only run this one once before and it was pushing Lena in the stroller. Very hilly course, didn't want to do that again. But at least I knew what to expect today. It was cool and windy, overcast. I got into a nice groove and started passing people as I went along. Passed two women who are normally way ahead of me. The last mile of this run is almost all uphill. Oof! Finished at 55:34! I was pretty surprised about that. I've only ever been able to break the hour mark once on a 10k and that was earlier this year. I beat that today by over 4 minutes. Sweet! 3rd in my age group, too, but not a lot of the usual women showed up today.

Good luck to all of you who still have something to prove this weekend!

Ailarie - nice job!!!

hope you other racers & LR'ers are faring well also.

litch! how ya feelin?

boB that's a bomb of a LR. go get yourself some milk and OJ and replenish those postassium supplies. nice job.

Maria - i think your teammates super-sacked the sandbagging. didn't you all finish in like 28 hours last year? our 2010 avg team pace is 9:15 mpm (i engineered our avg pace to get a time close to 9AM) and i tried not to sandbag our pace too much. see you at cannon. i'm running leg 3/15/27. i ran leg 7 a few years ago - a real nice run on west side road w/some rollers and farm views. maybe we'll catch up at leg 27 - i doubt we'll catch you though.

i opted to pull lobster pots and drink beer yesterday instead of run.

i just got back from a nice 9.4 mi run on the rail to trail path just north of here. had a nice snack of concord grapes along the way, saw a hawk and now it's date night!

lots of mixed emotions about 9-11. BO is urging all not to have feelings of suspicion and mistrust. sorry, that's a tall order today.

({({kath)})} yeah, more groping. it makes the hurt feel good.
