Thanks for the support for my mom. She's doing just fine...

Slow morning so far, eh?

I ran 12.8 miles this morning, which is the farthest I've gone in a long time. The last few miles were straight into a fairly stiff wind, which made them really slow. Nonetheless, it felt good to get out there for a couple hours...

hi all- good luck to the Philly runners...make us proud! Can't believe its been 5 years since I was there. I really need to get my hiney in gear. I was hoping to do a half in Feb but my mileage is very low at the moment so we'll see. Of course I have more time now that I'm not working.

My aunt is coming in town this evening (Maria- from Lawrence) but will only be here until tomorrow afternoon- she's passing through for a funeral. She hasn't met either of the kiddos so that will be nice. I'm starting to get excited for the holidays for some reason...normally I don't. M has been talking about Santa a lot so it will be fun to have her know what's going on this year.

I'll check in later!

Meet Oskar:

(If you click on it it'll probably get bigger.) SO so hard to pick one. They were all so soft and fuzzy and snuggly, and only just started to walk in the last day or 2, so they're wobbly on their feet. I held them all, and all but Oskar started to whimper squirm after a minute. Oskar was awake and looking around observing, but was calm and content being held & snuggled.

After that I went to a morning opening at Julie's gallery. And sold a couple of my pieces while I was there. heh. And then I went to the other sale, where I sold a bunch of stuff. I think one of the local news casters is buying one of my bracelets. She was walking around with it when I left. Anyway, hopefully that will continue.

Next I'm going to spend a good chunk of time in the studio...

Aaaaaand.... there was something else that I can't remember. Darnit.

Good luck Brandy, Baggs and solar.

Nice 7 miler to start the day. 27* out, so a little chilly. Of course, come March that will feel like summertime.

Having my family over for TG tomorrow. (That's TG #2 for those of you keeping track at home.) So clean, clean, clean.... Got potatoes cooking right now. Also have a going away party tonight for some good friends that are moving to FL. I am driving the bus, so at least I won't be hung over tomorrow.

Greetings, all.

Kath - awww... Oskar is a cutie! Can't wait for him to become part of your family, and the rest of us get to share in his adventures (or misadventures, as puppies are known for ) with you and Brian!

Go go Philly Peeps! Fast Feet to you all!

Bob - that is great news to hear of your Mom. Hope today has been nice and quiet and relaxing for her!

KJ - Ooh, if you can, join us for the HM event! I mean - yeah, it's summer, and yeah we know it's not an event to run for time... but right now, there are several of us chicas who have committed to attending. I think we are going to have a GREAT time. Consider it a girls' weekend, with a HM thrown in for good measure! :)

No running for me today. I'd planned on it, but I haven't been home long and I'm kinda beat. Had a good day though. Ran some errands. Scored (with store discount + Kolh's charge discount) a pair of my favorite Levis jeans for $40, and then met up with some friends of mine from when I was working at an arcade during my college years. We had a blast. :)

I am thinking ahead for turkey day. I'm in the HM that morning. Dad is in South Georgia, and mom will be working that day, probably 2nd shift as usual. I'm thinking of actually cooking a few very minor (easy) things, and after the HM (and cleaning up of course), dropping by her house with a care package with a plate or two of food that she can nuke later. She won't even know until she gets back home and finds a note on the fridge with instructions.

Even if she has some turkey for dinner at 11:30 at night, it counts right? Then I remembered my lack of experience in the kitchen. eep! Nonetheless - this shall be an adventure. :) If it works out - cool. If not, well, she has no idea I'm doing this, so no harm done there, I suppose. :)

Speaking of food, the beasties are fibbing to me and telling me that it is suppertime. They're about 45 minutes early, but I think I'm going to feed them now anyway. :)

You can see Oskar's coloring better here, for what it's worth. It will probably change significantly by the time he is full grown:

Belly up!!! 2nd day trying some solid food.

Gah. Crazy, crazy day.

Found out a 5th grader in DS's class was arrested.

FIFTH GRADER --> READ 10-11 YEARS OLD ARRESTED.

For having cigarrettes, beer and drugs (didn't get the low down on what, if any other drugs there were) in his locker. Principal was trying to help him open locker, saw said contraband, and kid kicked principal in the back of the head and ran. It took 4 administrators/teachers to get the situation under control before the cops came. FIFTH GRADE. WTF?!?!

Worst part was DS never told me about it and I found out from his friend. We've been crazy busy (and kind of absent) this week, so I feel terrible. This kind of stuff makes my heart race and blood boil. 5th grade? Really?!?! Scary. Talked to the boys ad nauseum about it. Need to do it more.

Oh, and other crazy freaking crap stuff too - but am handling with a nod to a good friend here - thanks!!

Umm, no. Missed field goal to end the game. I think I've heard that song before from FSU.

Don't worry, I think FSU will still beat UF next weekend. We were losing to Furman 22-7 at the end of the first quarter today. Furman! Yeah, we eventually got it in gear and won. But jeebus! We gave up 32 points to the mighty Furman Paladins!

And that certainly wasn't the only exciting game this evening. Oregon and Oklahoma both went down at the last second. Plus, Okie St lost last night, and Clemson went down. It looks like the top three teams in the country will be from the SEC West. And almost no matter who wins the LSU-Arkansas game next weekend, it looks like the national championship game will between two SEC West teams. (Unless Georgia somehow wins the SEC Championship game. In that case, I have no idea what would happen). So it looks like this'll be the sixth year in a row that an SEC team wins the national title. Wow...

Three - was originaly 4, but the last one got bagged. Last Sunday was with the in-laws, to day is my family, Thursday will be with the next door neighbors (although that is just for desert, a few glasses of wine, etc.). The last one is a 20 year tradition of a TG among friends, where we used to get together the night before TG and do the whole spread, as we got older and married and had kids, the day changed, but we have always managed to get together. The crowd has evolved from a bunch of rowdy 20-somethings (one year we averaged 2 bottles of wine per person) through weddings, divorces, births, parental illnesses and deaths, and a personal bankruptcy.

Need to go start getting my bird prepped...

Scary indeed. As proud as we are that DD is her class president, one of the other students that she ran against was suspended 2x in jr high for bringing alcohol to school (vodka in a water bottle). If DD lost to that student....
