Drove 10 whole miles friday and set up the camper at our local park on friday night. Woke up at the crack of 8 for a MTB race starting 200 years away, I love that. Managed to warm up exactly zero. Our race was 3 laps on a 7 mile singletrack loop. Had an OK start but was utterly dying with the early pace. Coming around at the end of lap one I passed a freind of mine and asked how we were doing, he said we were 4-5 in expert class. Halfway through lap 2 ripped sidewall out of tire, game over rode back to start on the rim and headed for the showers. Kids won their kids races, pictures here:

Sunday was a hilly club race. Small group with one out of town cat 2 from NYC and 2 of the better climbers in the state, welcome to hell. First time up the hill I hang on but get popped on the steep part, 4 guys ride off and they are gone for the day. Long freaking club race at 55 hilly miles, oof. Should have brought some food and water, oops. Get pegged back by 3 guys and we work along pretty well. One guy is drilling the crap out of it every time he pulls through and it's giving me a headache. After a couple laps of this tomfoolery I drill it up the climb and get a gap, only to get pegged back 5 miles later, so I attack andagin and finally get clear for the day, riding in solo for 25 more miles for 5th place, ooch tough day. Put a new "test" saddle on my bike from the shop, one of those big flat fizik things, it was not a good fit for me. Was bingo water for last 10 miles so legs have been cramping all afternoon, always a treat.
