Let's get this party started kickstars.

20 moh this morning avg 8:35 per mile ez running. I paced a master's woman thru her 20 this morning. She ran it ez either last weekend or two weekends ago in close to 4 hours. She ran her last marathon around 8:15 pace so we ran too fast today. She kept saying she was tired and was going to slow down but I couldn't get her to do it. She'll be sore and tired tomorrow. :) 70 degrees and not a bit of wind but still a bit on the humid side.

Time for a shower and then put some brake shoes on the the lovely and gracious mrs ccrunner's xterra.

Greta LR, ks! And that's good news from the vet. Cool weather and hydration is all you need.

22 miles this morning, at 8:28 avg pace. I'm really pleased with this run. It wasn't much of a struggle at all. Good confidence booster.

Now a little golf this afternoon (I'm taking a cart!)

A relaxed 6 miles in the morning.

Lots of memorial activities recently. A lot of people in this area commute into NYC. All of my children had classmates who lost parents. One of the haunting memories is the yellow ribbons tied to cars in the commuter parking lot that weren't driven home in the days after the crash.

8 miles on pavement. Wore trail shoes, foot got a little warm toward the end, but still fell under the category of tolerable discomfort.

Left shoe = spenco pad under stock insert, right shoe = orange superfoot insert..this configuration seems to work so far, but don't like having the feet asymmetrical.

Good news on the tests, KS! I hope you get a turn around soon on the heat to test out the theory. Today sounded like a good start on that.

Nice LR, Mike!

Hi PT!

Hi Johnny! I used to worry about symetry, but figured hey, if I was symetrical then both sides would hurt.... balancing things out can't be a bad thing, as long as you don't take it too far.

Speaking of which, putting the matching Spenco pad into my left shoe turned out to be too much and the pain in the foot shifted a bit from the ball of the foot to the side below the little toe. Not too bad, though and it was enough to confirm that it's NOT a stress fracture starting up (yea!!). Dialed it back by using two of the thinner gel pads for today's run..... 13.4 miles of trails total, the first 10 as a pre-run of next week's race course with the race directors and about a dozen other runners of various capabilities. The route was exceedingly technical, brutally rocky and despite having maps, we all got lost rather quickly... the course designer was at an ultra today and couldn't be there to lead the group. Which was sort of a good thing for my training partner and I, the slowpokes of the group, as at each trail intersection we had to stop and confer on which way to go and make sure nobody got left behind. All in all it was a fun day and a confidence builder for me, as there's a 25K I'm signed up for in 3 weeks.

Have a great weekend everyone!

14 miles this morning 10:40 avg pace; beautiful morning here. The run went well overall. I ran into my sometimes running pal Kristin about a mile and a half from being done. She turned around and ran back with me. It was good because I was flagging a bit and she gave me a boost, as well as my fastest mile of the run (10:10).

Nice running, all (pool and otherwise). For me, 8 M @ 9:09 m/M on a route that included small hills and a few miles of trails. I tracked my HR--AHR 128 bpm, which makes sense because I started slow and then tries to keep it near 130 until the later miles when it drifted up to ~135, It felt pretty easy. I'm thinking next weekend's trail race will be be a skosh faster.

No workout for me today, but had Dim Sum in downtown Toronto's Chinatown with the wonderful Marj and Henry duo... who were in town from Massacheusets for a family thing. What lovely, lovely people they are!!! Henry is originally from Toronto and knew the area we were in better than I did. We gabbed for a good 3 hours. Of course I forgot my camera, but Marj had hers and promises me she's send the picture via email, so I can post it here.

Hi everybody

Sounds like some great long runs and most of the health issues are being taken care of.

I am back from a fantastic weekend at RunWoodstock. Three days of running, music, mud, peace,

love, more mud, hiking, swimming, did I mention the mud, and fun!!

The short story is I managed to miss a turn again and got DQ'ed from the race, I would have finished 5th or 6th overall and first in my

AG. If you want to cut a little of the course, coming in 1st place makes it a little too obvious They had me out of the results even before I went to tell them

I might have missed a section. Going over the results, they did miss another runner who started about 5 minutes after the gun and was probably one of the runners attempting to run the course backwards as they made a wrong turn within about 30 seconds after they started!! His time was about 30 minutes faster than he had previously done.

Of course that mattered little with all the other activities you can read about when I post my probably lengthy race report.

The first few runners probably knew a flower headband, jean shorts, and Hendrix shirt wearing hippie never passed them during the race.
