10 ugly miles done. Stress of the week is catching up. Haven't eaten enough this week to support that many miles, and my gut is not happy. Need to work some magic quick before this triggers a full out flare.

Gus is freaking me out this morning. He isn't interested in anything. Not in people/dogs walking past the house, not in going outside, not even in ME, and I'm his favorite thing. I don't know if enough time has passed that he thinks Jack should be back now or what. He is one lethargic lump, and that is NOT him at all.

While I was out running he barfed up everything he ate for dinner last night.

I'm going to see if I can get him to go for a short stroll. (As opposed to our long fast walks.)

:sigh: enough of that.

GO bOB!!!

What does everyone else have going on? (Sorry if I missed people, I can't remember who or if anyone else is racing.)

The party was great, but we're all beat!

The mole was dysplastic, so I have increased risk of cancer and additional annual scans to do. Not fun, but could have been worse news if I delayed that removal!

((((((((( Gusgus )))))))))))) Beasties mourn in their own ways, too. Do you have any friends with a beastie that Gus might join for a short playdate? Maybe being around another four footed critter would help him a little.

5M for me this morning. I'm about to run errands OR help dad with more packing/loading of stuff. Not sure which - depends on what happens as soon as I finish this post and call him for an update.

I ran my longest non-stop stretch in awhile today. 2.2 miles, followed by another lap of walking for 3.3 miles total. Pretty pleased about that, I wasn't sure I could even make a mile without walking. Kept it slow and steady (probably was about 14 min/mile) and once I got the groove, it was pretty easy to hold onto the run until I got to that 2 mile mark. I talked myself into the last 0.2 so I could make it to 2 full laps on the 1.1 mile loop. Remembered to stretch after, I'm bad about not doing that.

Otherwise, it's shaping up to be a quiet weekend. OSU plays against University of Miami tonight, but I'm watching other college football today too and NFL tomorrow. I love fall! I bought the fixings for beef vegetable soup which I'll make for dinner tonight and I think I'm going to make homemade bread too. I have a huge bread cookbook and so far, I've made the Cuban bread a few times because it is pretty simple. Those of you at Twin Cities last year may remember the loaf I sent with Moonie.

Well, that's done. It wasn't pretty, but I finished. Final time was about 3:59:10, by my Garmin. First 14 miles were all downhill, and that went fine. Last 12 was all flat, but I was out of gas. I think the damn altitude got to me. It also rained on and off, heavy at times. And for 5 minutes in the middle it was hailing! That's a first for me in a race.

Meh, it got done. 20 states down, 30 to go...

Oh, go Tim!!

Hi all - well, I'm at work right now up here in the rainy Pacific NW. Got out for a run before work to beat the rain. Feel kinda' bad that there's a local race tomorrow (the You Go Girl Tacoma HM/10K) and I'm neither really in shape nor have the right gear (I didn't bring any wet-weather running gear) to make this even a consideration. But then again, I wasn't expecting to stay several more days than I am now.

I do have tomorrow off though. I might go catch a Mariners game (weather pending) or maybe just lay low. I do have laundry to do, so that's a consideration (yeah, I'm the life of the par-tay I tell you - how about come over for some suds and 'spressos tonight *wink wink*?)

Congrats boB - sounds like a productive day (one more state and a sub-4 in the books); hope you get to enjoy whatever's around there and/or rest up well the rest of the day.

Congrats Bard on the solid run! That is awesome. Pass the bread this way, please.

I did 8.3 slow recovery miles today. Nothing evenful - just getting it done.

I was crabby today. Really crabby. So I just undertook some serious retail therapy. I haven't done that in a LONG time. But I got a bunch of great stuff.

Unlike Oregon, FSU is not playing a creampuff tonight. It is almos Oklahoma time. GO NOLES!!

Well, I tried for another walk this evening, but we didn't even make it 2 blocks. And he was trudging along 6ft behind me. On the bright side, on our way home we ran into our next door neighbor, who has a boxer puppy (I think just under a year old). Gus actually wagged his tail in slow mo as we walked up, and they were licking each other's muzzles and seemed to like each other ok, so we're going to try a play date tomorrow afternoon after I get back from Cleveland.

He is one sad sack. It's never been so easy to take his picture.

I ended up not making homemade bread, I didn't have enough flour. I did get out to the store to get some but only after it was on the late side for getting it started. Instead, I also picked up a loaf of bread from the store's bakery and will have that with the soup instead. I'll make bread next week instead. The soup is still cooking but has a wonderful spicy kick, thanks to a can of diced tomatoes with chiles. That was an experiment, and one I will probably repeat in the future.

He won't walk more than 1.5 blocks (down from like 5 miles a day) and won't snuggle with me today. He is/was alpha. He herded Jack around. He needs another cow.

He just barfed up what's left of his breakfast. And I didn't hear the percolating (he isn't quiet when he starts to heave) so didn't get him outside, so now I have some NASTY puddles to clean up. Might barf myself. ug.

Watching the Florida-Tennessee game. What a flag-fest!

Yeah, I think Floriday had 15 penalties. Congrats on another marathon boB.

Hey all, great day for racing today. 49 degrees at the start and still cool at the finish. I finished the HM in 1:32:21. That's right at almost a 1 minute PR for me. It was a great day and I felt really strong. Probably a good sign for my training. I started at marathon pace of 7:10 and then gradually picked it up. My quickest mile was mile 13 at 6:39 pace.

Guess who I ran into...PacerChris. I saw him before the race and after. He's a little dinged up. Achilles injury. We ran the first couple of miles together. My brother went out quicker around 6:45 pace and then slowed when he cramped up...so I caught him with about .75 miles to go and managed to beat him by 12 seconds. Nothing like a little sibling rivalry. ;)

Kath - I'm excited about your puppy. Still sad about Jack though. I hope Gus snaps out of it. Hang in there.

Thanks for the support all.
