That weather is headed here Monday! They are talking record highs tomorrow, oh boy, my long run is going to feel loooong. Today I just have an easy 6 to get in this morning, I'm feeling lazy, so it'll be a little while.

Here is a QOD (or weekend, I guess). I'm sure you guys have had this one before, but I'm still getting to know all of you. What role does your significant other play in your running/fitness?

Mr.JenRuns is extremely supportive. He goes to most of my races, except the random 5k's. He is a great photographer/support staff/cheering section. Of course, he also thinks I'm a little nuts for running so much. He will also bike along with me when I start my long runs in the dark (to beat the heat), but I know he doesn't enjoy getting up at 5am--there isn't a whole lot of conversation until he "drops me off" on the more travelled running path. He did bike in and out of sight during most of my marathon--until I yelled at him at mile 18--this is where I had a mini meltdown, oops. Overall he gets an A!

Here's a picture of us after the marathon, along with a running buddy who helped to pace me through the first 1/2: (I hate that I still have glasses on in the picture, but I was sweating so much my eyes were stinging like crazy)

morning!

I'm at the beach this morning -- heading out for a short run to test out the legs. They were better for the 7 miler on Thursday, but I had some weird pains in the right ankle yesterday It's sunny and beautiful here, but still a bit chilly. The ocean looks awesome, though!

QOW: some of us (me) don't have a SO at the moment...

Good morning. I'm human again! Drank lots of Gatorade yesterday (sadly, not in Friday fashion), and the carbs really helped. I might still be able to race tomorrow! I was starting to think I had some 10-mile curse on me or something.

Will head out for 2 or 3 soon to see how my legs feel. If it goes well, I'll be doing the Icicle Run tomorrow! PTom, Solar? What's the final verdict from both of you?

QOW Um, I don't call him IronHubby for nothing! As maniacal as I am about working out, he's 20x worse. We met at the gym and completely understand and support each other's workout habits. He's doing his fourth Ironman this summer and is a certified triathlon coach. He has inspired me to run, has helped me design workouts and training plans, has taught me when and what to eat, has challenged me to tri (haha) things I never thought I'd be able to do (distance running, multisport), and has been my biggest cheerleader. He rocks. When he's not being a pain in the patootie, that is.

GOOD LUCK AT DISNEY -- Brandy, Baggio, and Pacer!!!!!

Gotta do something today and tomw. Not sure what but I've been slacking.

I don't know if I'll get in my long run this weekend, because I have my audition tomw and I want my legs to be fresh, but I'll plan on 2-3. It's not enough, but it will do. My long run is only 5 anyway.

I'll go out later today for a run. 4 miles on the books.

QOW: What role does DH play in my running/fitness? As far as running, he watches the girls while I race or run. Sometimes he'll join me. As far as fitness, he goes to the gym with me.

Derek Jeter says, "Just get out there and do it girly-man."

Hmmmm what role does my dh play in it. Well we our workout partners in our strength workouts. He's also ran every marathon that I have, however we only ran our first one together (he never seems to get the consistant training in to help improve his time.) He does however encourage me and does what he can to let me do races (like watch the kids). I'm very lucky to have such a supportive husband. He is however very competative and isn't happy that I'm currently faster then he is lol

Good Morning Gang -

Planning on doing my speed workout from hell on the TM about noon today. It has intervals of 3/4 mile at I pace, which for me is 7:05. Hoping I don't go flying off the TM when I get tired at that pace.

QOW - DH is supportive generally about my running - allowing me to sign up for whatever races I want, run when I want, etc. and he will watch the kids. BUT - I do need to take fishing season into account, which is May (mother's day weekend!) - November here in Minnesota. So during that time he fishes just as much as I run, so I often times have to get a babysitter for races or long runs. DH has recently started running a bit on the TM and did a 5k in Thanksgiving, but he doesn't enjoy it and thinks I'm crazy to run so much and so far (and so early in the a.m.). All this support may change if I register for a marathon though - his comment when I talk about doing that is "It was nice knowing you".

Good luck weekend racers!

Same here, but DH is a golfer. It works out though. I let him golf and I get to do whatever I want in return. Heck! I even encourage him to golf sometimes.

Alright I am back. I had no problems with that 29 degrees specifically because there was no wind. Very fortunate for me.

As I labored in the cold, my mind drifted back to classic literature.....

Conditioning and Maples
Act II scene 2:

"conditioning, conditioning,
wherefore art thou conditioning?"

King Maples III
Act V, scene 4

"conditioning, conditioning
my kingdom for conditioning!"

QOD I can't answer that one as I am significant to no one.
