4 miles. Gorgeous morning. Bit of residual snot, but the cold is mostly gone.

Didn't occur to me until this morning that that might make him sound like a crock. He's not. It's a matter of pain tolerance and my body adapting to compensate for the jacked-up-ness. When I lay on my stomach propped up on my elbows (that alone is SUPER uncomfortable) and he starts poking to see if anything will move, he doesn't have to look too hard to have me gasping..

Also occurred to me this morning I should have masked off the lights in the dining room. Maybe Dh won't start sanding today and I can do that tonight.

Hi All!-

Quick check in--about to get on the TM for 5-6. I felt for days like I was getting sick, but may be avoiding the full-on muck though zycam, good food, more rest than usual and sauna. Didn't run yesterday and took it easy on Monday...

Excited for Voo's Bday run--getting a good little MN group and the weather looks good that evening. I can't remember the last time I ran 10ish after work, so be nice to me, Brandy. :)

Will read yesterday's thread in earnest and check in later. Hope you all have a good day...

Speaking of 10 miles after work, I got in 9.3 yesterday. w/o was below

2 mile warm up

5 min at tempo (804)

2.5 min recovery

10 min at tempo (804)

5 min recovery

15 min at GRP (which for some reason we ran at 825 pace)

5 min recovery

5 x 1 min at mile pace (i think they were all 645-705)

cool down

work out actually felt pretty good. We were laughing because we would chit chat during the w/o part and we were quite during recoveries...which makes no sense what so ever

Running at Hyland tonight - probably just 6 or so. I love Hyland at night!

Morning, friends. I was planning to stitch with some friendly folks last night, but I had to go home first to get my project and change out of the boots that hurt my poor feetsies. I made the mistake of sitting down and reading (I had about 45 minutes until the stitching stuff started) and fell asleep. Unlike Solar's 20 minute power nap, I fell asleep for over an hour, so I bagged stitching, which sucks because I won't get any done tonight. Ah, well. Obviously, I needed the sleep.

Boring amount of work ahead of me today, but I've got to get it done. I had the pleasure yesterday of staying out of the way while the first person to interview for my job was around. Classic.

And as pretty as that photo of my driveway may have been, at that point there is normally about 20 feet open between the trees, but with all of the snow on them the opening was down to about 4 feet. I have been spending a lot of time with the chain saw the last few days.

4 sleasy this morning. I am taking a training class from home this week, however, my kids still don't have school, so the house is chaos central. We have already had 5 canceled days of school, and it is just Nov 2. bah. Plus, found out my Dad is w\o power (lost it Sunday afternoon after I had spoken to him), but he won't come here or my brother's because he is stubborn. Usually his Independence is a good thing, but not in situations like this.

Morning all. PT this morning was uneventful, more 1:1 intervals.

DD and I are going to see Beauty and Beast tonight on campus (touring company). This will be my test to see how spoiled she is from seeing Broadway shows at such a young age.

Tomorrow DH, his mom, and his aunt and uncle and I are all heading to Vegas for a long weekend (yes, vegas again!). So, I will be in Vegas for the Voo's birthday. It sure seems appropriate, but I can't decide exactly how I should commemorate. The best idea I have so far is to buy in $40 somewhere and play it out as I think Voo would, and if it wins, donate it, if I lose, well, I reckon that could happen to anyone. boB - I think you guys went to the casino together in New Orleans, do you remember what he played? I have black jack in mind, but I'm not sure if that's right.

Continued get well vibes to the sickos!

And I hope you get a second interview, Moon! Did Kris make it home? Last update I saw was the fourth airport, or something crazy like that!

Good morning, guys. I hope everyone is well...

Amichel, I played Texas Hold 'Em with Voodoo in both New Orleans and Deadwood SD, and a little blackjack in Deadwood also. We didn't do so great at any of those games, so hopefully you'll have better luck than we did...

Geez, my running is really slacking. I ran only 74 miles in October (although I did a whopping 4 miles swimming). And I started November off yesterday with a 2 mile run. That's all I had time for before I had to pick up the kiddo. Today I'll try to get off work a little earlier so that I can do at least 3 miles. It's been a long time since I really had a good long run. Other than the Half Marathon I did a couple weeks ago, my longest run in two months has been about 7 miles. If I'm gonna be running the marathon in Phoenix in January, I gotta get off my butt and start getting some miles in...

So last night Lena got into the tub and said, "Holy jumpin' Jesus!" DH and I don't say this. So I'm not sure where it came from. But I had to try very hard not to laugh.

Count me in on the running slackers too. I haven't run since Saturday's half. I still have a bad cold, but I am WAY better today than I was yesterday. Oh, and for the record, I decided NOT to race the half marathon this weekend. I am sickly, the course is tough, and I really am not up for another shitty race. But I may run the quarter barrel route, which is 4.6 or something. Trying to talk James into doing it too.

Speaking of James, yeah he almost killed Jake last night. Well, maybe it wasn't that dramatic, but he got teed off and threw a stick/quasi-log and nailed Jake in the ear and behind the ear. Poor little dude was in some serious pain for a couple of hours. Fortunately, he has two lacerations and some swelling, but nothing serious. Let's just say James learned a big fat lesson (especially after I made him read a bit about head injuries).

Kath - happy belated anniversary. And for all the good news - particularly the new pup! Can't wait to see pics of him.

I am leading GOTR tonight and we are coming up with ideas for a community project. Anyone have any great ideas? Oh, and Wippy - I got my light up frisbees, which are AwEsOmE. We will definitely be playing with those tonight too.

Hello hello. (Hola!)

An ill-fated trip to New England this weekend was scrapped, thanks to that biotch Mother Nature. (The older I get, the more I hate her.) So Mom and I did other stuff -- shopping for ourselves, shopping for Christmas gifts, cleaned out my closets, got two donations ready (one bag to Goodwill, one bag of the designer stuff to an upscale shop that benefits breast cancer), saw a movie (Puss in Boots -- adorable!), visited my dad and aunt, etc. It was a good four days... just not the four days we had planned in Rhode Island and Salem, MA!

Running is going OK. I've been running about 3 times a week -- my boot camp class, one easy run during the week, and a longer run on the weekends. Nothing great, nothing awful. I'm still slow as a sloth, but whatever. I guess my fast days are over. At least I'm still getting out there!

Help needed! Do any of our crafty people know anything about t-shirt quilts? I want to have one made for my brother for Christmas (Flyers, Phillies, Eagles, Pearl Jam, U2, his high school and college...). How much of the design on the front of the shirt can be included? If something is written across basically the whole front of the shirt, is that too big? Also, is $160ish a decent price for a small size? (I doubt he'll use it on his bed, so I'm thinking I'll have a smaller one made for him to use as a throw.) I am really excited about this gift and hope I can make it happen!

Hi all!

Yes, I made it home after traveling through 5 total aiports (and 2 security checkpoints) yesterday. First was Oakland, where my flight was supposed to be. I sat on the plane at the gate for nearly an hour before they canceled the flight due to some mechanical issue related to fuel (yes, I'd rather they cancel the flight than send me up to be part of a pretty fireball in the sky). Then I waited in line over an hour to be rebooked, and I was one of the earlier ones to be helped because I hadn't checked my bag, so didn't need to grab it first. They schlepped me off to SFO by death van, and I had to go through a very busy security checkpoint but it went pretty fast all things considered. So I was in the following airports yesterday: Oakland, SFO, Dallas-Ft Worth, Dulles, and then finally Columbus. I got home 8 hours after originally planned.

My experience confirms why I like flying through smaller airports like Oakland, but also the drawbacks of being on an airline that offers only a few flights at that smaller airport.

I always thought it would be kind of fun/cool to do a running/race thing built around neighborhood clean up. Basically have teams and go and clean up an area. Best time/most garbage wins. If you can do it when/where there will be some traffic, it is great PR for the kids and the organization.

Maybe even do costumes?

Alexis - I have looked into that before and found them to be way too expensive online. Could you find someone local to do it? Maybe go to a local seamstress type of place? I think you can have more say in the design and the cost would be lower.

Cool idea Brandy - thanks!

Theia - I have made a t-shirt quilt - super easy. I used a 16" block, so it was the majority of the front of the t-shirt. I have a pattern if you want one. I'll have to pull out a picture of mine - I made an awesome one a few years ago and I still LOVE it. Great gift idea!

Kath - From last night, the pup - is this the GS or the AB breed you're referring to? I saw some pics from a somewhat local rescue group of some GS pups and thought of you and Brian.

Cranie - I had planned on running 4 on sat, but that's kinda out of the question. I'll either bike 40 minutes or 4 miles or some dorky combination or just get out and walk 4 miles. (walking I think i can handle just fine)

Amichel - Hah.. I like your Voo tribute plans! Be sure to consume beer and eat a hot dog or two while you're enjoying the insanity that is Vegas.

Bob - Your Oct miles beat mine! Between taper, getting the mother of head colds, and a re-busted ankle, I logged a whopping 47 miles.

Clarebear - HAHAHA. where DID Lena hear that, indeed!!!! :)

Since running is not in the cards at the moment, I biked on the trainer for an hour last night. Low resistance, but enough so that it wasn't a free-spin session and I got a little sweat going on. The ankle held up fine. In fact, this morning, I found that I can finally circle the foot in the full range of motion again. I still crinkle my nose at a tiny amount of discomfort, but I'm certainly not gasping in pain as I was two days ago. Yah for progress. this might be unrealistic, but I am hopeful to be walking and maybe even running on the treadmill (flat/even surface) in a week. We shall see.

Fun topic: i need names for this little guy! (no, he's not mine. He now belongs to my best friend, geoff.) I'm not even sure if this is a male or female, but Kitteh needs a good name! (unusual - striking - anything sci-fi or LOTR-type names would bring bonus point)

RiL - the same thing happened to one of my brothers when we were young. We had 2 wood stoves for heat which entailed lots and lots of stacking wood. My sister got peeved at my brother (her twin) and hurled a hunk of wood at him. He needed something like 8 staples in his head!

I like the cleanup competition too!

Does anyone have a home security system? I've been thinking about one since the tragic situation last week involving the 12yo boy. I don't know why exactly, but I think it would make me feel better to have one.

I won a t-shirt quilt in a raffle the same day I got my Female Volunteer of the Year award. It was a tied quilt made up of t-shirts from that year's volunteer shirts. I didn't like that it is tied because it seems more likely to fall apart. I've already had to get my mom to fix it in a couple of places. No idea how to make one or where to go to get one. It is a cool gift idea, though.
