Good morning. Yawn indeed. Up very late last night waiting for news on my mother-in-law. She was admitted into the hospital with what they called an :"irregular heartbeat". Initially, they thought they would have to give her a pacemaker. But then we got word that she might have pneumonia. I don't know what that would have to do with an irregular heartbeat, but that's what we heard. No more news since late last night. DW is taking today off from work to be at the hospital and be with her dad.

Meanwhile, I have completely lost my voice. I feel fine, but I can't talk. I'm sure the other guys at work appreciate it...

Hopefully I'll still feel fine later and can get a run in. I still need about 80 miles to break 2010's total, and with two and a half weeks left, I should be able to do it. But I can't skip too many more days...

Bob - the pneumonia can make it difficult to get an accurate read on any of the external heart tests. At least that's been our experience with Papaw the last three years. They always repeat all heart tests afterward, and 2 of 3 times heart procedures they said would be needed turned in to a wait and see. Unless the heart becomes an emergency, they will probably clear the pneumonia before they make any other decisions. With Papaw it's always been at least a two night hospital stay. One time it turned in to a brief nursing home stay for rehab and monitoring.

*yawn* is right. I woke up at 4:30 to go to the gym, but J and I talked via email and decided to delay a day. We're both just exhausted again. The extra hour and a half of sleep was well worth it!

Up too late last night, but was finally able to sleep.

Need to finish Dh's fire place logs this morning (just have the black marks on the bark to do) and then I'm meeting some old co-workers for lunch. Knitting with the ladies later. I got my cowl finished except for casting off last night, so tonight with the ladies I'll start on a scarf for my SIL for Christmas.

Oh, and no run for me this morning. It's raining, some schools have fog delays (!!!) but some don't and we're having lots of traffic for a bit, and I can't get to the tm because Dh just put a coat of varnish on the living room floor. Might be an off day.

Continued vibes to you MIL, bOb.

I had a nice run. 8 miles in 38 degrees and light rain. Was feeling SO thankful it was not snow. :) Weird thing was after I got home, my eyes wouldn't adjust (black spotty and just weird). It is still off but better. Scares me a little b/c last time this happened to me I was FLOORED with a migraine. So any anti-migraine vibes you can muster up and send my way would be great, thanks. :)

Excedrine Migraine - take it preventively. You'll be glad you did.

Mindi - agreed on the Excedrine. That is an aura for sure. Scary

Me - I did the 3 x 3 building pace runs at the Dome last night. I think I ended up with just over 12 miles so youch. I had some trouble making the interval pace. I was supposed to be at 2:53 for the 0.38 lap but it ended up being 2:58...blah. Rest of them were fine though.

Overslept - I have no idea why my alarm did not go off but it didn't. Nothing like getting ready in 20 min...egad

Thanks - I took 2 ibuprofen and they were doing NOTHING (yes, headache started). So I went to Walgreens and got some Excedrine Migraine. I know that is a lot of medicine, but better than a migraine. please work please work please work....

Morning all! I puttered around this morning instead of getting out for my run right away and left myself only a small window in which to log any miles ... and thus a 4 miler was born. Weather continues to be so great, 38* and no precip, just sun and the gentlest of breezes. I'm excited to run with a co-worker tomorrow morning, he's in from our Austin office and loves to chat about running so it'll be nice to get him out and show him a bit of NYC from the running path. Holiday party for the office is tonight, gonna have to be extra good if I want to make that wake-up call for the aforementioned run.

Mindi - hope you head that sucker off!

Thanks for all the Dillon love, little guy is back at the vet this morning for an ultrasound. Fingers are crossed they're able to figure out this mystery area in his abdomen and/or pinpoint why the little guy doesn't have much of an appetite.

Hope Bob's MIL, Dillon, and Mindi's head make some positive progress asap.

Ran an idon'tfeellikedoingthis 5 miles yesterday and then took my newly-8-year-old nephew out to dinner. He ate like a champ! It was a fun night. I gave him a coupon on Monday for a dinner out with me whenever he wanted it, and he said Tuesday! I let him pick the place, too. With so many allergies, he usually doesn't like to eat out, so I was happy he had a couple places to choose from...

Some of you may remember the crazy lady that harrassed me who lived below me... Between her chain-smoking and her yelling at me, etc, I wasn't upset when she moved into a nursing home. Well, I just found out she passed away. I sort of feel sad about how she lived her life. But on the other hand, from the grave, she almost poisoned me last night. The guy in charge of cleaning up her place and renovating it used gasoline (!) to clean paintbrushes and left it in the house. My ENTIRE house smelled awful last night. It was so overwhelming I had to call the guy and ask him what he had in the house that would pervade mine so badly. Ugh. He came over and removed THE BUCKET OF IT THAT HE LEFT IN THE HOUSE, but I slept the whole night hoping I wouldn't actually pass out...

RiL - hope the Excedrine kicks in soon for you. I get migraines more often than I would like - b/c of all my computer work, maybe? So I keep it in my handbag at all times just in case.

Missy! Are you still looking for good brunch recipes? I've got a bunch of ideas for you. I love brunch and a good combination of sweet and savory items is the way to go.

Holiday Brie en Croute - set a Brie wheel on some thawed puff pastry, mix dried cranberries, raspberry jam and toasted sliced or slivered almonds, spread over Brie wheel, wrap with the pastry, brush with egg wash, bake at 400* for 20 minutes or so. Serve with crackers and fruit slices.

Proscuitto wrapped Asparagus - wrap small bunches of asparagus with strips of proscuitto, place on a baking sheet with some olive oil, bake 5 minutes at 450*, roll and then bake another 5.

Eggnog baked french toast - soak slices of french bread in eggnog overnight in 13x9 pan, bake 350* about 1 hour. Serve with fruit and/or syrup.

You could also do an egg bake, or those mini quiches that you find in the freezer section.

PM me if you want specifics, I kind of rushed the recipes a bit.

Holy shit Lora!!!! Hopefully no one walks by today and lights a cigarette - it would be like the end of Christmas Vacation!

found my heart rate strap last night...it was in the backpack I use for the Y/working out at school which I'd looked in twice yesterday. It was hiding in the bottom.

Shannon - thanks for the advice - I think it is definitely helping. I feel sort-of out of whack (it hurts behind my eyes and I feel like someone is gripping the whole top of my head), but the pain is kind of dull. Yay! I have only had a handful of migraines in my day, but every other time it knocked me on my arse completely. I feel crappy, dizzy and exhausted, but I am functioning, which is key since I have a ton of work and a presentation to give in 40 minutes.

Ha - this reminds me of a time in law school. DH (BF at the time) went to Blockbuster to get a movie. There was a SUPER long line and by the time we got to the counter, I had to put my head down on it (getting a migraine but didn't know it). Apparently DH thought I was being a total freak - until I completely passed out and hit the floor. Came to and within an hour developed a debilitating migraine after that which ended the fun of that date really quickly......

Yikes Lora! I hope the stink is out (and the fumes themselves don't effect you.)

Crap night's sleep again last night. I've had sleep issues on and off a lot lately and it's killing me. Most recently, since my father's surgery. I've been eating horribly, too. Snacking a lot which isn't like me. I might eat a lot but it's rarely snacks or between meals. Stuff upsets when it really shouldn't (um, did anyone watch New Girl last night? I cried at the end. This is not normal.)

boB, vibes to your MiL.

Hope your migraine gets better, Mindi. I have them from time to time (knock wood, none in the last couple years) but when I get them, they are AWFUL.
