Stellar pool day today!

1600yds.
100 wu / 3x100 / 2x150 / 1x200 / 2x150 / 3x100 / 100cd

Every lap of every repeat under 60 sec. Ave 55 sec.
What's cool here is that the second hand on the lap clock was moving backwards. Every lap a glimpse at the clock, and the second was 5 sec further in the anti clockwise direction.

Ok, maybe a bit of an esoteric milestone, but very real for me.
That's odd. Think maybe you were also getting 55 sec. younger with each lap? I bet that pool gets very crowded in the near future.

Good Morning,

Nice workout Pro. I had to re-read that one. For minute I thought you were making time go backwards.

Pleasant 50s with sun
.75 mile walk
After two days of rest I wanted to do something peppy, but reasonable.
Settled on 800m progressions x -30sec, from warmup pace down to about 7:30pace for the last one. Don't think I could have done a 7:00. I may try 600m next week. Ended with a mile cooldown, 5.5 total.
.75M walk home.

have a good one
Sounds like a breakthrough, Pro. So was Ilene right? Just swim faster?

Good workout, JJJ.

Speedy, ksrunr!

tomwhite, I don't see any dog walking on your list.

11.25 miles, [email protected] + 4x400 w/ 400 recovery, 3 Puddinhead miles

I struggled through the tempo miles (goal=7:10, reality=7:16, 7:12, 7:12, 7:22). Then I nailed the 400s (goal=1:32-1:34, reality=1:33, 1:32, 1:32, 1:33). I am wondering what this means. Opinions are welcome.

Good morning everyone! No run for me today. Maybe late this afternoon, but I have an appointment at 5:00, so not sure.

KS, you're fast! Millbot, I have no idea what that means, but it looks good to me. (7:12's aren't far off 7:10). JJJ, you're getting more and more into the speed thang - good job. Pro's swimming is going as well as his running. I agree with Lab, I don't think I'll ever get used to the smell of chlorine.

And speaking of Lab, awesome news about the green light for some cautious running next week!

Have a good Wednesday, everyone.

I hate chlorine. It makes my chest hurt to breathe in after being around it for a long time.

Anyway, nice workout Pro. And Mill.

I ran 3.2 miles this morning after throwing in a load of wash. When I got home I cooked some Kale and Beet greens I bought at the farm stand, cooked off the corn on the cob, made lunch, showered and went to work. I need a nap.

Still bummed that Cabela's ain't opening in Hartford till after I get there. Guess I will get over it.

Tomwhite, swim with arms only and a float thing between feet? Rowing machine? Or as Millbot suggested, walk Da Dog

Good jobs all.......nice swimming pro....good workout millbot, puddinhead is going to be fit enough to be a dog trainer soon.......triplej, nice outing......ksrunr, you are a speedy rascal..........tomwhite, I can't imagine too many x-training options that wouldn't irritate a bothersome hip.....maybe you could actually try the radical approach of totally resting for a week or so and let that hip get healed up....and what are the vacation plans?

I like days when I'm not in charge of the workout.......there is no thinking involved...just get the email with the weekly track workout and go do it.....so, later this afternoon it will be 3-6 x 1200m @I pace with equal TIME jog for rest. So sayeth the coach. Approx. 2 mile warmup and 2 mile cooldown.

Ok, since this is a "whatever" thread, I can participate! I'm not running today . . . just rambling. . .

YAY Labduck on getting the green light. I know you'll take it slow and cautious, so no need to tell you that right?

Johnny - I stopped in at the new running store again after work last night. They are having their grand opening on Oct 13th. They'll have a bunch of stuff on sale and probably be giving away things as well. Just wanted to pass that along in case you were interested in coming into town for that.

Today is a no run day for me. Working all day, then spending the evening with my family. Helping son with his homework, just chillin' . . . . I think I'm going to be a toothfairy this evening so I better get some cash today. He has another top tooth that is just hanging by a string, so I'm sure he'll be bringing it home in a little ziploc baggy from school today.

for those of you going to Portland this weekend, what mile marker is the aid station? A friend/coworker of mine is walking it and I wanted to tell her about where you guys will be, so if you are still there when she comes through, she can say hello.

choovie, weighing in on your blasphemy question from yesterday...

I think you have to do what will continue to make running enjoyable for both of you. If I had the chance to run a race as fun run with DW, I would definitely do it. I don't know if that will ever happen, but we do take leisurely hikes together, and those are some of our favorite times.

Good morning to all. Good workouts too. Hope the hip is better tomwhite, the swimming with the float thingie sounds like good xtraining to me, but on another note, when and where is the vacation??

Good news labduck on the return to running, I'm sure you'll be in top form again by the holidays.

Tamster, see I have such a short attention span, I completely forgot about the new running store within 5 minutes of our conversation about it yesterday . In the Portland thread over at the other place, lab gives the street intersection where the aid station is. I think it's mile 21 or so.

Today would have been a rest day for me, but since Team Floyd the Barber needs my help, I'll go out at lunch and power walk for 2 miles or so in the woods. Gotta get those points where I can.

The aid station is between Mile 21 and 22 on Willamette Blvd right after the Portland Blvd intersection (oops, I meant to say Rosa Parks Blvd; they changed the name this summer). It will kinda look like this:

Btw, who is the hawt blonde?

Lab - I don't think it'll look like that this year though. I doubt there will be any of that 'glaring light' stuff coming out of the sky. I figured you all would be at the same spot, so I told her to look for your aid station right around mile 21 or so and to yell out "Tamalina says hi!". You can duck whistle at her if you'd like . . . or just whistle . . . she's a hottie. I also told her "my running coach Johnny" will be at the aid station.

Johnny, I thought MY attention was short! I bet if I would have told you that a 20-something hottie worked at the store, you wouldn't have forgotten so easily.

For the whatever thread. I am getting into this taper mode stuff. All through the training I have been running injury free (not talking about the shoulder thing), but now my right hip flexor is real tight and sorta sore. Right on schedule!

Hi guys and godesses
I've been taken hostage by work until yesterday and now I'm free

Ilene.. taper arrived just in the nick of time to let your hip flexor settle down. Hope it's fine on the 14th!
Wow both Portlands are have marathons this weekend. The PNW one is where the party is though! Enjoy! I've gotta visit my sister in Portland one of these days..

Super news Lab that you have the ok to do some "gentle" running. That's great!

Very nice swimming and running Pro and Mill and JJJ. Pro you swim nearly twice as fast as me. Kinda like when I think of the marathon elites, they are only twice as fast. So to swim faster all ya have to do is swim faster. Makes sense. For running I tried for 2x the cadence but didn't turn into an elite.. hmm.

Nice hilly 12.7 mile run this morning averaging 8:40 which is only 10 secs slower than my target for the Richmon marathon. Felt great today! Army 10 miler on Sunday so now I "taper" the rest of the week 5 mi, 5 mi, 4 mi, race.

GL tom.. frustrating

That's such a great photo of the Boomer water stop. Wish I could be there to help. Millbot, thanks for the thoughts on blasphemy. Guess it'll be a game time decision how we run it. While I want to enjoy it with him I also have this strong desire to NOT LET HIM BEAT ME. However, he doesn't seem to care if I do or not which kinda takes away some of the fun. Darn men. Any how, I hope you kids behave yourselves in my absence!

We've got wind gusts over 40mph. While I don't mind running in some wind -- say upwards to 30mph -- 40+ is pushing it a bit. Will try to see if things calm down by tonight for my run.

Ksrunr, did you ever recover your lost data?
