45 minutes on the elliptical this morning. Followed up with weights and ab work. Might go for a bike ride after work.

Morning!

4.65 on the hill in the moonlight. Venus was almost bright enough to run by as well.

14 miles for me in just under two hours. A friend joined me for 10 of the miles and we enjoyed the cooler weather (58°F).

8-10k tune up race on the plan for today (having moved this weeks' schedule all around due to the weather), which I decided to do on the treadmill since it's 90 frikken frakken degrees out!

About 2 miles into it my left quad started letting me know that it wasn't fully recovered from Saturday's 11 mile race/9.3 mile cooldown, so I cut today's "race" to a 5k instead.

1 mile warmup: 9:22
5k "race" on the tm: 24:19 (7:51)
.9 mile cooldown: 8:10 (9:05)

Other than the slightly tight quad, feeling pretty good.

Nice race jensparks! I assume you won?

Track workout tonight. 4 x 1200 with 400 rest. Should be character-building in this heat.

Should be insanity building, anyway.

I'm not sure if I won. We're going to have to watch the footage later to see, it was a close race, the guy next to me seemed to be step for step, but I think I got him right at the last few meters or so.

PR for me today for the slowest run ever. 5 miles at 10:06 pace. Calves feel like they'll explode soon and the rest of my body just plain hurts.

I'm gonna go take a nap.

Plan tonight was an 8 mile general aerobic run. I opted to do it on the trail because it was close to 90 degrees out with a heat index over 90.

It was a bit cooler on the trail being in the shade than would have been on pavement.

Nice and quiet out there. I did not see another person. I felt pretty good. A bit warm though.
Run Segments
Nice treadmill race, Jensparks. Hope your calves feel better soon, Alex. Ouch.

4.5 miles for me. Not a bad run. It should have been faster, but my legs were feeling creaky.

9 miles for me tonight after work. After a very busy day, I like to look at medium long runs as relaxation and stress relief. I didn't even bring my watch tonight. The run was in a new area I've started going to which is half beautiful riverfront homes, and half deserted country roads where you feel like Forrest Gump. I finished as the sun went down and saw 4 deer at the end.

jensparks, I bet you'll be feeling better next week.

Alex, take it easy!

Nice running Aphi, Grizzly, Lofcaudio, Alex, Jensparks, Arrojo, EQ, milergal, and SGH!

Incredibly balmy 88F this afternoon. Waited out the showers and ran at 9pm. Muggy.

5 miles easy. Cooled down with 6x strides.

Looking forward to speed session tomorrow. With 11 days to go, I'm getting a bit antsy.

Nice trail run EQ ... I love the trails especially when it's nasty hot out.

I'm feeling better, am definitely thankful for a 3 week taper. I cut back Pfitz's schedule... which some may or may not think is a good idea, but for me personally I think it is. I'm doing 12-13 instead of 16 this weekend, and only 9 next week (1 week pre-marathon) instead of the 12 on the schedule. It just seemed too high to me, and I'm going with my gut now. I've had a lot of racing the past few weeks and it's time to relax a little bit before the big day!
