Thanks for starting us off Barb! I haven't run yet but wanted to share this funny photo. At least the guy is a Grizzly fan, right Larry?

Choovie, that's gotta hurt the neck! Ouch!

My workout today was 12 miles with 3 miles at continuous tempo pace. After reading the Long Run thread on RA several times to glean the wisdom, I put the tempo miles near the end, where typically I'd put them more toward the front after a solid warmup.

So, 12 mile MLR with miles 8, 9, and 10 at continuous tempo. 7:50, 7:49, and 7:46 min/mile pace for those. My tempo range is supposed to be between 7:44 and 8:00, just right.

Have a great day!

Are you saying that that is Larry? I thought he was a bit older, but...

30 minutes on the elliptical today, trying to keep my endurance up until I start running again (soon). Also had a great sports massage yesterday that was also worth it for getting some of the kinks out.

I read yesterday that the overall North American "snowpack" is the highest it's been in about 40 years. I'm sure that's good news for lake levels and reservoirs come Spring, but I'm also getting really tired of this winter weather and won't be sorry when the melting starts.

Contrary to popular belief the avatar Larry uses is NOT him.

Oh come on Peter, I guess you haven't hung out with those beer swillin guys out of Bozeman, thats a pretty small rack and I'm sure he had to pull this stunt off as he shot the smallest bull in his hunting party.

wj, you're in fine form this morning. For some reason, it's running in bike shoes that makes me crack up. What a maroon.

Hally, I scare myself doing VRAA. I think I might take a pass on this one. Good for you getting out this morning.

I can certainly understand that, I injured myself doing my first one a few years ago and have just now gotten back into them.

Good morning everyone. Today's my volunteer ambulance day, so no workouts for me. I really could have used a good run this morning, as I had a carpy night. DH's son called us, once again looking for more money or else he'll be evicted (again). DH and I never fight except about this issue. It's so exhausting and upsetting.

Anyway, this morning I had 3 ambulance calls, one of which was for an autistic woman who experienced a 15+ minute seizure. When I got her stats, I realized she was born on the exact date as my daughter. My daughter, who just got engaged, is in her second year of law school, is on law review, and swims competitively. She's also so pretty that she dated Benjamin Bratt back when she was an undergraduate! And then I look at this poor autistic woman who has to wear a helmet all the time, is incontinent, and can't even speak and I think about how lucky I am. It's a real wake-up call as to be thankful for all the good things in my life.

Anyway, hopefully tonight will be a better night and then I'll wake up bright and sproinky and will get in a good run before....... (ta-da)
The ERIC CLAPTON & STEVE WINWOOD concert!

Can't wait......

Susan, counting her blessings.

I'm in love! With that nutcase wearing antlers & bike shoes & a Montana grizzlies bike suit. Oh my goodness! Men can be so funny sometimes.

A little mini-workout for me today....10 minutes on the stationary bike, hopped off, ran around the indoor track 10 laps (1 mile), then a coupla chin-ups & leg extensions, and a 15 minute swim.

Susan, I agree. My DH and I went to a parenting class last year when we were having problems with our oldest, then 14. Mostly attitude stuff, which I considered totally normal but DH was having a hard time with it. This kid is an A student, good at soccer, doesn't get into trouble (much), polite to most people (immediate family being the normal exception), etc. A good kid. But we sat in on this class where people are at their wit's end with kids who lie, cheat, steal from them, break into stuff, get horrible grades or cut school completely, etc. It was a real eye-opener. Suddenly, our kids didn't look so bad.

Checked the local forecast this morning... we could have "highs" of -20 this weekend. I am sooooo gonna love sweatin' in the desert!! I am also "planning" my regularly scheduled long run (20) on Sunday morning before I head for home in the early afternoon. (excessive post-relay celebration could derail these plans...) Would love to run along the canals there in Phoenix.... Any partners out there??

10 on tap for this evening, will try to do the last 5 at MP but nothing more. Gotta resist hitting that + button on the speed controls... Then a final packing of the stuff... sleeping bag... wonder where that is...?

Good afternoon (eastern time) all! We've a beautiful day here, but I was inside: 10 minutes on the elliptical, 30 on the treadclimber, then stretching.

Blessings on all you guys headed for the relay as you pack and travel -- AND as you zip around Arizona!

30 minutes of yoga. Pool running early this afternoon. Trying to schedule my visits to the gym at low use times, as my last 2 sessions were cut short due to just too many people in the pool.

I've decided to cut back considerably on x-training as I feel it's delaying the healing of my foot. Better to start over at square one in a few weeks than to wait what seems like months by trying to maintain my level of fitness.

Sans Souci - yes, I was walking on trail. I think it will be quite some time before I venture out on a paved surface again.

Riley - enjoy the show tonight, is that at MSG??

JJJ - the Johnny Winter show was great!! He's gettin up there in years (it was his 64th BD) and plays sitting down in a chair now, but the tour was to support a new CD. I really respect these old guys who are still making and recording new music, as opposed to rehashing their hits from the old days. We have a nice little club in our town and the owner does a good job of attracting musicians who are touring up and down the I-5 corridor from LA to Vancouver or viceversa.

Best of luck to the desert relay runners and please give mcsolar a hug from me.
