Good Morning just another run for me. Although I did get the joy of smelling road kill that was hidden in the woods 3 times and I almost stepped on some duck eggs! I almost killed some of the Kenyans kin! Part of my running course takes my by a pond where 4 ducks have taken up residence and I usually quack at them. Well this morning I looked at the ducks and then I saw one egg on the sidewalk and another just off the sidewalk in the grass. Luckily I didn't step on either one. Very wierd. I thought about going back to move them into some mulch that was under a tree so they would be less like to get stepped on but I changed my mind.

Total run was 5.19 miles and my pace dropped even more than yesterday to 9:34, granted I walked 2x today as compared to just once yesterday.

FB- nice job gettin out there and not making scrambled eggs

Just as I figured, I'm stuck at work this morning for another 4 hours. Me and the DW refinanced our house and we have to close on that today at 1:15, so looks like a rest day. No biggie.

Same 10 or so miles as yesterday. A bit cooler at 60F but 90% humidity. Ankle felt better in different shoes. I had to use my headlamp when I got out at 5:30am. Other than that, pretty quiet out there today - 1 deer, a few rabbits, some dogs, a few runners and cyclists. I may go to track tonight (800s) - depends on how my legs feel.

BBS - rest up. Hope the closing goes well and that you got a good rate. I'll be refinancing soon as my plans to sell the house after 5-7 years just ain't happening in this housing market.

FB - sounds like a wild ride this morning.

Good morning everyone and nice job on getting out early this morning. It is warm out today. I walked out the door and though, wow it is warm. 80 degrees at 7 a.m. Thankfully not much humidity around here. I got in 5 miles with my brother in 43:24(8:40). It was an easy day after the tempo run yesterday. I may do some core workkout later if I feel up to it.

Yeah, it's a long ride out there. The lakefront race would have been a good choice had I paid some attention to the race calendar. It's annoying when they double up races like this. In past years I'd perhaps have a shot. Mid 38s last year at DeKalb had me in 59th place OA...however, it's a circuit race. This year I want low 39s but realistically I'll likely struggle to get under 40.

Checking in for rainy VA...

It's going to be wet all day, sometimes hard rain, sometimes not. I'm hoping I can skip out during a lighter period to get in 8 near work. Then I might double up and do another 5 or so at home tonight. At least it's cool today, only 70.

On the way home I need to stop by Pacers (local running store) to pick up my new trail shoes which finally came in...Asics Gel Trail Attack. Could have used them last night. Time to retire the old UA Chimeras which were as heavy as bricks anyway. It will be the first pair of Asics I've had since college.

FB - good job avoiding a duck disaster

BBS - good move on the refi, might as well take advantage of that while you can

Dan - good luck with the 30 minute run

Loopy - slowly but surely you're getting back to your old self

RA - I feel the same way about my 10k prowess right now. Impressive day you have planned with 10 already in the books and 800s tonight.

zrun - sorry about that pesky hammy. They can be that way.

kevin - nice run in the dry heat

Chances - 15 on the TM? So you have some movies cued up for that? ;)

Hi guys!

So, my blood tests show low iron. Doc thinks that a combination of low iron and marathon recovery are what is slowing me down. Heat & humidity doesn't help. I'll be increasing my iron intake and going back for more tests in 3 months.

I'm hoping I hit rock bottom and am now on the upswing. I'm 3 months post-marathon. Yesterday and today's runs were both around 6-6.5 miles and around an 8:45 pace. Normal pace in the last several weeks had been about 9:30. So, that's good. Gonna hit the track tomorrow and test out some short speed stuff. Not sure what yet.

Back from the afternoon 8-miler. Rain held off until the last 1.5 miles and then it really came down. Actually that felt better than just humidity.

Jill - sounds like you need to treat yourself to a big steak.
