yup

did 4 miles last night aroundish Lake Harriet which is still super not really plowed. This is pushing runners to the roads and that is SCARY with the hills and icy roads. I went residential where I could. it was slow but hard work. Pup came along with and had her ice beard going.

Running on the Greenway after work - that is rumored to be plowed :)

Good morning Brandy and all who follow. Hope the running conditions improve there (and well before springtime ). How is your back doing?

Lora - Rest up. I can't wait for this year to be over for you.

This morning I learned that if you have lunch at around 11:30, and do not eat anything for the rest of the day, and run before breakfast, your run might just suck baboon ass. Interval day, and about halfway through I was on fumes. blah.

Good morning, boys and girls. I hope everybody who is achy feels a little better, and everyone who needs hugs gets plenty of them...

This is an easy recovery week for me, of course. I did short runs on the TM on Monday and Tuesday. And I'm planning on doing that again today. Since these are just short easy runs, I don't feel like packing all the crap I need to run in the freezing cold. I might push it to almost 5 miles on the TM today...

I sitll need about 55 miles to hit my mileage goal for the year. I think I can swing that...

Litch - I hope the conditions improve as well :) I think with all the snow we have had, they are going to restrict residential parking until Spring. The roads are already narrow and now with 3 feet on each side missing due to snow, you cannot park on both sides and get a fire truck down the road.

Re: the back - the muscle relaxers are helping. I am taking 1 at night to help me sleep. overall - it isn't 100% but is better even with the stupid shoveling I have had to do.

Lora - feel better! I feel like I have something coming on too and I cannot afford to get sick. I am spending a week at home with my parents over Xmas.

4 miles in the frosty air this morning. It was 3* with -5 windchill. I looked in our hall mirror when I got back and my hair was all icy on the ends sticking out of my hat and my eyebrows too.

Stay warm peeps!

Lora - I hope you recover quickly. Being sick stinks.

Duck - hope that achilles cooperates. Have you checked to make sure you are in the right shoes? I used to have achilles problems, but went to a runner's clinic (physical therapy type place) and learned I pronated and did not have sufficient support with the shoes I was in. Found the right shoes and voila! achilles issues went away. Just a thought.

I was scheduled for a rest day today - this week is actually a cut-back week and even though last week was a wash due to my flu ickiness, I decided not to beef this week up given the temps. Considered getting up early to run 4-5 on the mill, but decided to stay in my warm bed and snuggle with DH instead.

30 minutes on the treadmill for me. I checked the weather when I woke up and it was zero degrees, so I went to the basement instead of outside. Then it was hot enough I had to stop and open the window :)

I just realized something... I'm itching to run another marathon.

After TCM, I got awfully lazy and I looked at Charlotte as just a bump in the road. I never really took it seriously. But now after Charlotte, I feel a little antsy. It's like I don't want to wait until Little Rock in March. That's weird...

I too felt like I was coming down with somethig when I got home last night - that weird achey body and dry sinuses kind of feeling? You know what I mean? No? ok. Anyway, I jammied up ASAP, made some tea and sat on my duff watching TV all night. I'm feeling tired this morning, but better. I had the Stash Premium Goji Berry green tea (now with Matcha!) in case anyone's interested. So I may or may not workout over my lunch hour today. My brain is up for it but I don't know about my bod.

Happy trails all!

That's how I felt about waiting for a later spring marathon, so I picked Little Rock. What's your plan going to be for time at Little Rock? I just got email that they put me in corral B, even though I don't think I technically qualified for it.

Yuck - the roads sound horrible in the city. Makes me glad to live in the 'burbs right now! Glad the muscle relaxers are helping. Hope we don't get the 3-4" of snow they are predicting tonight, so you don't have to shovel again!

I did 9 miles with 4 at tempo this a.m. Was aiming for sub 8:00, ended up with 7:59, 7:58, 7:59 and 8:01. Gah. I know it shouldn't bug me that I was 2 seconds over, but it does. Must have been the beer, wings and cookies slowing me down.

I've got nuthin. Crap night of sleep due to my shoulder. I sleep on my left side, and the stitches are in my left shoulder blade and make things really uncomfortable.

Neighbor dermatologist didn't want me running today anyway, because of stitch location and the possibility of arm movement pulling them out I don't run like Phoebe, but I guess I'll listen to Doc anyway.

Did a short hard effort on the bike last night. Felt pretty good. Tonight is 4 miles with 2 hill sprints. Since I can't do the sprints inside, I will just play around with the incline a bit.

I wanted to run today. But I didn't. I was sneezing too much all day, and I have a slight fever. So annoying.

Not much going on here today, eh? Well, I ran 45 minutes on the TM. Unlike the last couple days, I didn't feel any soreness at all. I almost would've liked to keep going. But I didn't want to push it.
Yeah, I know I have some options for the Winter. My old hometown of Gainesville FL has a (very small) marathon in February. But I don't have an unlimited supply of $ to use to fly around the country. Especially now with my wife out of work. So yeah, I could find something to do before March... But I doubt it'll happen anyway...

wait, a short effort on the bike inside? can't do biking sprints or running sprints? i'm confused and this may be good recon for a wannabe newbie cyclist, etc.

boB - check out Austin (January?). fun place.

so i had my post-op with my doc today. after pt, i came home and made a big ol' pitcher of margaritas just 'cause i really needed it. i'll give the good news today because i still need to process the rest.

the good news is that my knee is perfect - the medial and lateral portions. all ligaments, the meniscus, etc - typical running maladities all look great. strong as an ox! he was really happy about that. the synovectomy was successful b/c there was a lot of stuff floating around that was causing the swelling and he was able to remove it.

sorry to leave you hanging but i'll get to the rest of it...later. my glass is empty.

cheers
