Runnin'...or workin' out in any way! I didn't run this morning. The Action Week 5 Mile Road Race is happening at 6 PM tonight so I'm saving my energy (what little I have these days, geez). I hope the rain lets up because I wanted to take the girls in the Chariot. I doubt they'd mind the rain, since they're covered and all. But I hate when the Chariot gets soaked. It takes forever to dry off and then it gets all stinky unless you can have it out in the sun for a full day. I don't think we're getting much sun the next couple of days. We'll see!

Shitty 3.5 mile run this morning. Had originally planned for 5.5, ran late so went on a different route, a 4.5 mile one. Walked the last mile. A few nights of lousy sleep, plus soupy conditions. And as BigG would say, I feel oogy. Blech.

I have a walk with the kids and another family planned tonight. I also registered for that C25K group.

eta: active.com Nutrition has an article, 6 Nutrition Tips to Avoid Stomach Pain. I haven't read it yet, but I know a lot of you have complained about tummy trouble lately, so I thought I would point it out.

I also cut my run short this morning and walked the last mile home. Not only was it hotter and more humid than I would have liked, but my stomach pains seem to be coming back, which didn't help my mental toughness.

Thanks for the feedback on TM running. It would be ok if the difference were :30 or so per mile, but it's at least 1:00-1:30 per mile and maybe more. The tech support guy had me check the calibration and it was set on English units, so that wasn't the problem. Perhaps I cancelled my gym membership too soon. At any rate, I'm going to send it back. I can get a refund minus an 8% restocking fee. I'll just spend more time in the local sports stores running on their TMs until I find something I like.

Good luck out there folks (esp. Clare on her race!).

Hey guys. I haven't run since the accident, but I may try it today. I'm still rather sore, but it's better than it was. If I do anything, it'll be really slow and short. But I feel like a lump because I've gone 72+ hours since my last run. I get antsy after a few days...

I can actually report a run yday with my upstairs neighbors. Not very long, included some walking, and when we turned around, we ran to the store when walked the mile or so home with some groceries, but it was good to get out. About 3.5 or 4 mi total but I probably only ran 2 -2.5.

G'morning, all.

Prae - bummer about the TM. I was hoping their tech support would at least give you a couple of options or send a technician out to look at the treadmill. :(

I got a lousy 3 miles in yesterday afternoon. Was expecting 5 or 6, but just didn't have the energy. Somehow I think a few days rest (like a running vacation) may be in order very soon to recharge the legs and the mental batteries. Meh. I may or may not go to spinning tonight.

got in an additional 3 miles before the National Night Out block party last night (to which we brought root beer floats and straight up beer). First 2.4 were on the road. Final .6 was on the turf barefoot.

I slept in this morning and will be running 7+ at Hyland tonight.

aw, thanks, Litchy. The good thing is because I went with my neighbors, it might actually get me back out there again. And I have to say, it wasn't awful.

8.3 soupy miles (I was told I looked like I jumped in a pool when I arrived home). After the warmup 2 miles it was supposed to be 20 minute tempo, 10 minutes easy, 20 minutes tempo and then 2 miles home. Made the first 20 minutes of "tempo" at close to my goal marathon pace. And it was all I could do to hold it. Walked a good portion of the easy 10 minutes and made it through 10 minutes of the second tempo before I pulled the plug because my pace was even slower than the first 10 minutes. Ran home.

Then I checked the weather: 80F, 85%H, dew point of 75F. Soupy. Maybe I should count today's as a swim.

nice Maureen, another renewbie!

Surprised your sending it back Prae...I do all my easy runs on the TM at around a 12:00 pace. We even measured our belt and timed it because we thought ours might be fast. It wasn't. Spot on. Just takes some getting used to. Is the company that delivered it coming to get it? Do you have to have all the original packaging/etc?

On my way out, there was a lady out for a bike ride heading towards me. She had on a low cut tank top which, if she was upright probably would have been fine, but with leaning as far forward as she was, and with not having a bra on (it was obvious), and with the uneven bit of road she was riding on, I was really afraid her bewbs were going to bounce out at me.

gah, another oogy morning. headachey and crampy. bah. BUT I did get out for 6 miles anyway. I have 9 on the schedule today so if I'm feeling it, I think I'll hop on the mill for the other three tonight.

Yea Moe!! Given the tumultuous conditions in your personal life, I think now is an excellent time for some head clearing, endorphin producing running sessions. I know I've got stressful stuff going on right now and it makes me feel SO much better once I've run. Getting out the door isn't always easy but once I'm out there it's like ahhhhhh! yeah!!!! I SWEAR I'm going to put up a sign by my door that says "You never regret going out for a run, you only regret the times you didn't" or something along those lines.

Good luck and good weather for your race Clare!

There was a TON of people out running this morning. The thing I really like about my running path by my hosue is that pretty near all the runners there are so super friendly, even if you're across the street there's a wave, like 'hey, fellow runner! woot!' Love it. I felt like I was keeping a pretty decent pace this a.m. (9:30s) and totally got passed by a woman who had at least 10 years on me, maybe more. And I know everyone has their own form style when running but this guy that was running toward me at one point - I thought he was swatting his way through a cloud of gnats or something the way his arms were flailing around! Fun stuff. I love running.

Hey all, lots of activity here already.

I went to the Y on the way home from work last night and did a 6 mile tempo run (7:20 pace) on the indoor track. It was very confidence inspiring to see that I can still run. Met up with the guys this morning with for the Wed 8 mile run. I held on with the group until 4.5 miles in then dropped off the back. I ran it in with the last couple of miles @ 8:15ish pace or so. Ended up with 8:04 avg pace for that run.

Lots of conf calls on my schedule today, then hitting the LRS for an easy evening run for a double today.

Hang in there folks. It's going to be a nother scorcher. The weather man says that relief is coming.

We have a guy that runs like that, plus he's on his tip toes and it looks more like marching or skipping. It's funny, but he's fast, so it must work:)

Sounds like Phoebe from Friends.

Prae - I seemed to have missed some of the details of the TM issue. But, I've derived that it's not running at the correct pace. Are you going to have send it back?
