Rest day for me! Although I am sure I'll run with the girls tonight. I am finished with my 4-day race extravaganza. Half marathon Saturday, 4.6 mile mud run Sunday, 5K Monday and 5K Tuesday!

Gack. I'm a running drop out. I ran not much last week, then Sun, Monday and some insanity--but came home yesterday again feeling lousy again. I can't get rid of this crud. It's really the pits.

Because of that, I'm not doing the 10k I had hoped for this Sat. I don't need another race that I drag though, I really want one where I do well!! Back on the horse this week--I think I'll need to do some mileage build up again. :

Bah! Bah! BAH!

Feel better Crane!

I ran for 30 minutes on the mill yesterday. 3 minute walking warm up and 3 minute walking cooldown with a 10mm pace running. Got in 2.75 miles. It felt okay. I slept better last night too.

Brought my duds to try and make the spinning class after work. I've got beef stew in the crock pot at home for dinner. Funny that I can get my ass up early enough to cook but not to run. It woulda have been a nice morning for running. Maybe tomorrow.

Happy trails all!

Yay Goon!

I walked to and from my car at work yesterday, so @ 2 miles. The spot I parked in (the SECRET SPOT, because almost everywhere downtown is pay/metered/parking permit only) isn't quite as far away as the other spot I know about, so to mix it up I will alternate. The other spot may be about 1.5 miles one way.

Good running vibes to those who need 'em. I know I do.... bleah.

morning peeps.

Took Penny for a good walk last night, to the Day of the Dead ceremony and back, so a couple of walking miles for me. Even jogged (in my regular clothes and sporty shoes ) a quarter mile or so of it on my way back, because Miss P was WOUND UP, and needed to get some yayas out.

(((Craney))) feel better.

Big G, I'm with you, I can get up and cook, but run? nope. Not gonna happen.

I feel your pain. Since it's cooled off significantly here Gus is all kinds of WOOHOO!!! all. the. time. It's actually pretty funny to watch him dork out so much, but man. I can't wear him out.

Butt tape! Butt tape! Butt tape! and 4 progressive miles on the tm. Last 1.25 miles was at 8:57, and was pretty comfortable considering I haven't done any kind of speed work in.... jeez. Probably since Spring.

Greetings, all!

Cranie - have you been using an zinc lozenges like cold-eze? My doc swears by them. I swear by OJ and chicken soup. Just not together for obvious reasons. hope you shake the crud soon!

4M last night on the Tm. IT bands are barking a little from the weekend, but they'll deal with it. Core is done for the day. Bi/tri work will be done at some point, and probably another 4-5 on the TM again. At least now on the hamster wheel, it's cool enough to open the door to the fenced in yard. Pippin gets a lot of HIS yaya energy out, chasing things along the fence line and barking at the goats. (who usually ignore him).

Be safe, folks!

hey there.

it's been really nasty busy at work with zero play time lately. i managed a 5 miler on the mill on monday (still adhering to the doc's orders not to hit the pavement) but haven't managed anything since. so i'm feeling like a fat blob now.

just had my knee aspirated today and wow, is that fun! i can't tell you how much of a blast it is to have 40 cc's of pee-looking stuff drawn from under your kneecap. i was hoping he was going to offer to shove the needle under my fingernails or maybe turn my eyelids inside out and rub salt in there i can't wait to go back for more.

and there was plenty more fluid to be had, but what's the sense in rounding out the pint sized horse-needled syringe?

yeah, so now i'm on the shelf for another week - no running. looks like i'll be hitting the stationary bike, pool and other forms of stationary boredom i can come up with. and my iPod is broken so the hits just keep on coming! oh, and next up, what's behind curtain number 3? yes folks, it's the scope!!! awesome. there's 4-6 weeks of downtime through the holidays - AKA the fatest time of the year.

i think i'm going to have to buy a new (to me) bike if this knee thing keeps progressing.

tits and beer, right missy?

(i'm not looking for sympathy but just figured i'd keep ya's somewhat informed)

so i bailed on the 10-miler i was kind of eyeing this weekend w/a good friend. bummer.

in any event, hopefully you're all still (willing and) able to get after it. i haven't had the time to go back and read up but it looks like the # of people here is dwindling fast. what's going on?

feel better crane. i go for the Hall's with zinc & echinacea. and a multi.

cheers

Okay, I hate to bring this up again... But have we made any decisions about a Spring meet-up? Anybody still interested in Kansas? What about Ragnar New England? I have both of these firmly in the "maybe" pile, if anyone else is willing to do them. (Hell, I might still go to Kansas alone even if no one else goes. But I don't think I'll be doing Ragnar by myself).

Thanks for asking, feeling pretty good - very laid back about this one. Going to run it pretty conservatively and pick it up after the Queensboro bridge if things are feeling good. And that extra hour of sleep will be so sweet! Nice job on your run this morning!

So, I guess I don't feel that bad, anymore. Laid down 7 tonight on the TM with ab workout after. Felt really good although I scared cats with the sneezing.

This story made my heart happy. Although I'm terribly inspired and it says so much about running and what it can do mentally, I gotta say I'm a wee bit worried he's undertrained...??? An hour is not nearly enough:

Agreed - it is pretty inspiring, but I think he's in for a lot more than he bargained for. Running 6 miles a day (even every day of the week) is not the same as the distance to cover this weekend. But hey.. kudos to him for giving it a try...

Speaking of trying, I got a measly 3 on the hamster wheel. Apparently that 460 calorie, barely-any-carbs lunch wasn't such a bright idea. By 1.5 miles in, what energy I had just disappeared. Meh!
