Good Morning Kicksters!

I may plan on running later today, but Hally wanted a recipe . . .

Impossible Pumpkin Pie
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup Bisquick
2 Tablespoons butter/margarine
1 can (13 oz) evaporated milk - I think they skimmed down - I can only find 12 oz cans
2 eggs
1 can (16 oz) pumpkin - again - I can only find 15 oz. cans . . . everything's shrinking
2 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
2 teaspoons vanilla

Preheat over to 350.

Grease pie plate. 9" x 1 1/4" or 10" x 1 1/2"

Beat all ingredients until smooth : 1 minute in the blender on high or 2 minutes with hand beater.

Pour into pie plate. Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

9" cooks about 60 minutes and 10" cooks about 65 minutes - that's what my mom has written - but wouldn't the 10" one cook in less time because it would be shallower? I used a 9" and cooked somewhere between 55 and 60 minutes.

I hope you like it! If not, it's not my recipe

No running for me today.
Pink-yes, they are the Triumph 4's they sent me in place of the 3's that were sold out. I love them so far. The girls at work will love the pumpkin recipe.

Hally- I love peach pie but am terrible at making crust. The cobbler recipe sounds great. If I can find some decent peaches, I am going to give it a try.
Good runs to all today!

Gin, I think peaches are past for local ones anyway. Try it with apples and let me know if it's sweet enough.

OH yeah, exercise, I will run and lift after work.

Wow, what a way to start the daily thread!

I have cowd in my nose. and throat. and head. I think I picked it up from my coworker and then the marathon beat my immune system into submission.

I started a "How to shake a cold" thread in nutrition.
http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/sho...695#post292695

I may still run (ez) at lunch. I've found that it doesn't hurt ... or help.

The list of pies to try is getting longer. DW is going to buy some Bisquick this morning so we can try Pink's recipe.

Shake that cold soon, Pro.

Today I did 10 mins on the arm bike thingy and 20 mins rowing. Then stretched and did 10 excrutiatingly slow crunches, centimeter by centimeter. That's all I had time for. I'm going back to the orthopedist today at 2pm and hope that he has good news for me. I feel like I'm ready to get started with the physical therapy.
Why do I pop in here halfway between breakfast and lunch... the pies are making me REALLY hungry! Might have to try SS's and pour it into a pie shell too.. yummmm

Pro.. I'll respond in your cold thread.. good luck!

Very nice 8 miles today except one thing. My toes on my rt foot cramped up at during the 7th mile after I started hauling @ss for a spell. Took a bit of wiggling to stop it. Wierd. Must be close to taper time

I shouldn't be here right now, but I need to blow off a bit of nervous energy.

I've been working hard over the last few days (it might have been easier had I started weeks ago) to prepare for an important work event today. I'm not sure I even want the gig, but it's important that I knock some socks off. Please think calming thoughts at 10:30 PDT.

Thereafter, I'm going to go to a very short steep hill in town and pound up it a half dozen times. That'll do.

JJJ, thanks for the corny dog link. I dunno about the doughnut stuff either; for me, it's gotta be cornmeal. I'm going to search for a recipe, hopefully one that doesn't require deep frying. I've been doing a taste test over the last week to see whether I prefer veggie dogs or soy dogs. Yves has pretty good stuff.

Hey!!! I clicked through the Yves website and he now has CORNDOGS!!! How serendipitous is that! Just need to get my noggin around that ingredient list (all that iron and B12 is good for runners/sproutheads). Dunno about some of the others (torula yeast???)

I haven't run yet and won't til tonight. I'm just lurking about in case JJJessee feels the urge for hot pink kisses again.

This dreadful. I can only find the stuff in 398ml cans. What to do? What to do?

Yoga this morning, not nearly as difficult as last week, although that has more to do with a different set of poses than with my improving conditioning.

Warm fuzzies to Sans with her Important Gig, Pro, with his cold, and everyone who has posted pie recipes.

I have 1500m in the pool tonight while DS swims, and I'm looking forward to it.

DH had a look at the photo of Mustang Pank (I broke down and bought the hi-res version, as it's the best running photo of me, ever, with or without a silly tutu), and said, "What's wrong with your leg? It's all, like bent."

<sputter>
I'll tell you what's wrong with my leg, buster. It has a powerful vastus medialis firing as I come down, midstride, on the best-conditioned quads I've ever had in my life. Jeeeeeeeez.
aahhh, it's Pie day! What a wonderful theme. I love Pie - I love everything about Pie - I love Pie's shape - I love putting real whip cream on Pie - I love decorating Pie. Hally, yes, I use Kraft caramel's in my caramel apple pie. No imitations on something as delectable as Pie. And I love making Pie crust - it's one of the things I can do real well, nice and flaky, rolled out thin and even. Pumpkin is always a favorite at our house, but DH wonders why I only make it at Thanksgiving time. I need to make it other times of the year too. Pumpkin Pie . . . it's not just for Thanksgiving. Banana cream and coconut cream are other favorites at our house. I'm the only one that likes pecan Pie, so I rarely make it.

no run for me to report today, although I think I just gained 3 lbs thinking of pie.

I picked up my door prize I won at the running store - it is a Nike dri-fit running hat and glove set. I assumed it would be like a Nike "ball cap" type hat, but it's a cool weather running skull cap type hat, with a hole in the back for pony tails (although I never put my hair in a pony tail). And the gloves are real nice too - with a little key pocket in the palm. very nice gift - much nicer than I probably would have bought for myself. I like my gift.

I think I'll do a 3 mile run tomorrow after work and then another 3 mile run on Friday during lunch and that'll be it before my race. I was planning on taking today and tomorrow off and just doing a 3 mi run on Friday, but I don't think I need to take two days off in a row.

Pie can cure the common cold in only 7-10 days. Pie can get a person off 'sternum watch" in 10-14 days, guaranteed. Sporting stars, like the top sumo wrestlers, use pie as a daily training staple. You can't argue with that kind of success. The facts are clear. We don't need more cowbell.........we need more pie.

I've posted versions of it enough... but if you must look, a shrunken version of it is at http://members.shaw.ca/arfenarf/pict...teelBridge.jpg.

Okay, this PIE talk has GOT to stop. I ate waaaay too many sweets yesterday and have eater's remorse today. My faves are warm fruit pies ala mode and coconut cream. Yum.

Will try to squeeze in a run after work tonight. I am having problems getting back on track since Cali.

Ditto what choovie said. I just ate breakfast #2 (and no, it wasn't pie), and I am still hungry 'cause of all the pie talk. Enough!

Dearest SS, if anyone could knock some socks off, it would definitely be you...and your Easter Bunny.
