Swam 1 mile with Dan this a.m. at Silver Lake. Beautiful swim. Felt some good gliding there and water temp was still good. I did wimp out and wear the booties. I probably didn't need them but I felt better wearing them. The psych factor does play a role in all this hoopla.

Trainer coming over tonight for some strength work. Last week was awesome so I'm sure I'll get more of that this week. Yay!

Have a wonderful day everyone. Keep plugging along ane healing and taking care of yourselves.

Good workouts all!

7 miles on the treadmill on account of rain and not being able to push the little otters in the stroller. I think I may have pulled something either in the upper hammy or groin area...feeling a pulling/mild pain that kind of nags me until I'm warmed up during a run and a bit just walking around. It was kind of bugging me before running today but fine after 5-7 minutes. Definitely going to keep an eye on it.

40 minutes on the Nordic Track early AM. Getting bike withdrawal (haven't gone since last Friday!). Only other workout (of sorts) was 4 mile walk on Monday while DD was at swim practice.

She went under a minute on her 100 Free today in practice (first time ever). She was pretty psyched.

Some positive vibes here - I like it!

reg - you fishie's dad, you!

Another seemingly a setback day. For some reasons, I decided to take a mtb out to a dirt road just to enjoy the sun. Mistake. Vibration from it was aweful and caused lots of discomfort to the injured rib area. Then walked. Fast. The it hurt so bad I cut it short after 20min. sigh.

In the evening, I went to a bone marrow drive for a friend. And talked to the massage therapist I see time to time. And he said, I had better move the area around and stretch the muscles around the rib. OK. That Hurt seriously. Then after dropping off DS at his martial arts class, I headed out to pool just to kick. I couldn't even kick because the rib was giving me a terrible pain.

I think it is broken. And I am not resting it to let it heal. But I Can't Sit Still. It has been 11 freakin days.

Yosh - go get an xray and confirm it. Maybe we can get it into your head it is broken. You're not resting it, it's not going to heal and it will take longer. You need to switch your entire workout routine to focus on every possible thing you can do to recover. This could be 8 weeks. knowing you, it will be less. BUT it needs to be said so you can plan accordingly. Have DH take away the keys to your Mtb ;-)

Yo: I know how hard it is to sit still. B literally had to physically stop me at times after my accident last year from doing things. I am glad he did though because I am now better than I was before the crash. It is mentally and physically extremely difficult to sit back and do nothing but it is so very important. I ended up taking up cross stitching again to ease my mind and relax. I can send you some projects if you are interested. I'll just remember my dad looking at me when I was trying to do too much and straight out tell me not to be an a&^hole. I laugh now but he was right yet again.

Take care of you. You're the only you you've got. Give your body the rest it needs now so it can keep on doing the amazing things it has been doing for you for a long time into the future.

a million times yes to this.

as my PT said to me when I was frustrated that I wasn't allowed to "do anything", your job right now is to let your body HEAL. that's your "training". Get the xray, make sure you're doing what you should do to heal up.

and remember, the injury is already whatever it is. waiting to get the tests or whatever doesn't change the injury, it just changes how you can treat it and heal.

Thanks guys. I hear you but. but but. you know how it goes.

MQ thanks for sharing your story. I have been cooking more. Believe it or not, the first time meat loaf in my life ever yesterday. Came out well. Have been reading quite a bit too.

Took a slow walk with Parents-in-laws's dog. Beautiful fall day.

I think I mentioned my DD is doing extra in a Hollywood movie - yesterday was her day 1. She worked for A LONG hours. She talked to James Franco and sat next to Michelle Williams when her hair was done, etc. Pretty cool experiences. Totally priceless. I can't wait to accompany her one of the next 13 days!

My x-ray was negative a week and half ago. But I was told sometimes (or often depending upon whom you ask), a fracture wouldn't show up on x-ray. So officially nothing is broken. But I am not sure.

Yes, healing is my job for now. And not eating like I am training for 10+hrs..... arg. Let's hope weight gain stays <5lbs.
