Good evening! I had a big meeting from 9-1 this morning, then I had a couple of hours off. So I went to the gym and ran 3 miles plus 1 mile walk for w/u & c/d, then did 30 minutes of stretching. This is the first time I've run 3 miles since my neck surgery on January 11th. I had a procedure called anterior cervical decompression fusion, which involved replacing 2 disks in my neck with cadaver disks and then screwing the whole mess back together. I was out of work for 3 weeks and not permitted to run until June. I started walk/run program on May 31 (all right, I know not quite June) and it's taken me this long to get back up to a 3 mile run. That's kinda sad, don't you think? But regardless, it's very slowly coming along so I'm pleased about that at least. I was permitted to start spinning in April so I've been doing more of that, although I tend to get a sore lower back from spinning so I only do about 2 hours per week. I resumed yoga in May too but I have a lot of restrictions with that as well, since my range of motion in my neck is a little more limited than it used to be. The good news is that I don't have any more pain in my neck, shoulder, down my arms, or in my hands. I'm also 5 lbs heavier, unfortunately, but hopefully as I gradually ramp up the mileage, the weight will drop off. Not that I'm fat, but I prefer my clothes to be looser and I don't really want to buy new work clothes.

Now I'm back at work for the late afternoon/evening, with a Board meeting scheduled at 7pm. Ugh. I hate working late. But it was nice to have a few hours off this afternoon. I also got a pedicure which was lovely. We're going to a fancy wedding on Friday night so my little toesies will look pretty in my blue "f-me" sandals.

I'm constantly amazed at how many miles this group accrues, running & cycling. You guys are incredible!
