Morning

I snuck out of work early tonight, so I'm gonna try my luck hunting for a few hours. Hoping to get an easy 5-6 miler in around noon, then off to scout another hunting spot.

Yesterday's tempo run on the TM went well, 7:20 pace felt pretty easy. I think I'm ready to knock out a new PR (weather permitting)

BBS - always good to see progress!

Jebba - hey, at least you are trying...

kfuller - enjoy the afternoon run.

Missed my alarm so no early TM run. I'm going to try and muster up the motivation to run later this morning.

I was looking at my times for the local turkey trot 5k, which I've run every year since 2004. My average comes to exactly 19:00 mins (best 18:16, worst 19:51). The 19:51 came when the course was icy and it was a breezy 5F. That's my excuse. Anyway, I'll be shooting for something around 18:30 (to get my average below 19 mins) but have no idea if I can pull that off.

RA - re: the 5k it all depends on the recovery from NYC and where you are on that. Last year I did a trail 8k on Saturday of this weekend and I definitely labored a bit. I really didn't hit my stride after NYC until the Christmas break. But it could be different for you. Either way, good luck.

I wonder if they do Cornish turkeys? You know, like Cornish hens but turkeys?

My legs are OK but I still feel fatigued due to chronically sore (maybe strained) lower abs. That stems from the Prairie State marathon where my form went to s*%t. I guess we'll find out tomorrow whether I can sustain sub 6mpm pace. Glad I skipped the 10k last weekend as that would have been bad.

Anyway, 5 easy miles around work after which the scale in the locker room said I've gained 1-2 lbs since the marathon... hmm... same food 1/4 the exercise. Not a balanced equation.
