4.1 miles this am. Most I have done in almost 3 weeks. The hip is coming along just fine. I actually pushed it a bit more than I expected and can feel it. I might have to back off a bit for Friday's run.

Okay a bit gruesome of a night last night. Innocent soccer playing around led me to urgent care for about 3 hours. A ball went over my head and I turned around to get it and when I came down, there was a metal edge that shaved off a big chunk of skin on my shin. I do have pictures but I'll give you the link...I don't feel like making someone see something they don't want to. Oh ya, ended up getting 6 stitches on the top part.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t...nnjuryhome.jpg

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t...yhospital2.jpg

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t...ositeangle.jpg

It doesn't really hurt that bad, just the bandaging is annoying. I'm pretty sure I'll still be 100% for the race tomorrow, it's just that I'll have a nice wrap around my leg when I do it. Oh ya...in the pics, that worm looking thing is the long strip of skin. Sorry if I grossed anyone out too bad.

Umm....nice pictures? Didnt bother me a bit, but that is just me. At first I thought the worm thingy was some glue they put on. Glad you clarified that!!

Good thoughts on your recovery and for your race tomorrow. Freak accident.

Innocent soccer - Funny I won't even play golf the week before a marathon as I do not want to use any muscle weirdly or tweak anything.

Weather you are 100% healed or it hurts - you have a race to run and a top 4 finish to get. I am sure it will not get in the way - Pain ... What pain ... we eat pain for breakfast.

ME,
8.5 easy miles this am in @ 8.5 - I had planned on running a tad slower and a tad longer, but that bed felt soooooo good this morning.

Sorry alex - I did not even try to look at pictures - I am not a big fan of looking at surgeries or mangled human flesh.

alex: ouch! Hope it heals quickly for you!

I hear you on the bandage being annoying. My knee is almost healed and I'm so glad, because the bandage is bugging me so badly!

Heal fast so you can run fast, Alex.

I'm doubling up today. This morning was just over an hour of stationary bike intervals, and tonight's plan is 5 miles with the running group including the only "hill" in town on the route (highway overpass).

No way am I going to look at any pictures if blood is involved!

I ran 14 miles this morning. I was planning on them being nice and easy, but I got a little carried away and ran the last seven much faster than I probably should have.

Yeowch! Nice icky picture, too. I only looked at one.

Haven't run yet today. I am feeling irrationally nervous about it since I bailed on my run yesterday. I'm suspecting that my 3+ hour long nap yesterday and the poor run are related. I'll go easy today.

I don't know how many times I've had to explain what happened yesterday...too many too count. It's getting to the point where I just start making up stuff.

Thanks for worrying people. I hope it won't effect my running besides the pain, nearly positive it won't.

Mike glad you had a good time with the family.

WTPJ - Fo sho! It is super superficial...the huge line is about as deep as a hair is wide. Just think of it like a scratch but wider. The only semi-serious part at all was the top...but it's sewn up now and no tendon/muscle damage or anything. Doesn't hurt when I run...at least it didn't at practice. Besides, who said getting to state would be a pain-free experience.

I'll live. Soon I'll get a pic...looks not nearly as cool and gruesome as before.
