Another day, another dollar

Yesterday's tempo went pretty darn good, pace felt a little hard, but seemed alot easier after the 1st mile.

Today will be a 5 mile shake out.. looks like it'll be a race against the rain.

Only 2000m in the fishbowl this morning. Just felt right to cut it short. Son1 didn't join me. He leaves for deCycles on Friday and wanted to sneak in one last ride. He said he only needed a short ride to hit 2000m. His idea of a short ride? 50mi. I don't know where he gets those goofy concepts of "short" distance.

kfuller - enjoy the rest

4boysmom - Nice swim. I'd be lucky to get 20 yards. Tell your son he's crazy. Not sure where he gets that from. :)

BBS - good job heeding our advice. Hope you get your run on

I may hit up the TM for an easy 5'er but my left quad is sore again so will play that by ear. Track tonight is 400s (again).

Hello, estranged peeps.

BBS -- Great job on the tempo. Know what you mean about mile 2 feeling easier.

Mom -- Nice swim. Do you do it in intervals, or continuously? Son1 is a beast.

Kevin -- Rest up.

RA -- Have fun on that double. Keep good form on those 400s. Ick.

Me -- Continuing to diversify my workouts, with swimming and biking. Running about 1/2 what I was, and I've signed up for an oly tri on August 14th. The idea of 1500M of OW is absolutely terrifying me into being a better swimmer. Two goals: (1) Don't drown; and (2) Finish. In that order.

LOL, Chances, your obstacle #1 has kept me from attempting a tri - so far. Nice to see you back around these parts. You should stop by more often.

It's an XT day for me today and I wanna ride...but I won't have time this evening and that means heading over to the gym for some thrilling stationary riding. 45 minutes planned.

BBS - on your tempo runs do you start with a warmup mile or just kick it right from the go? I know mile 1 would tough for me if I did that...

kevin - enjoy the rest

RA - you're really going billiards to the wall with those doubles. Does that mean you're officially in marathon training now?

4bm - nice swim and what RA said...something about apples falling near trees comes to mind.

Hi everyone. It was not hot today, but very muggy, as the rain has been threatening all morning. I did 5ish miles with a couple of walk breaks. I have to remind myself that I always feel like a crappy runner in the summer, and it gets much better in the fall.

Back from the gym ride. It was comedy of errors at the beginning...my iPod which I checked for power yesterday and which apparently had been near full strength was now dead, so I had to go back to the locker and get my phone so I could do Sirius XM. On the way I suddenly realized I needed to make a pit stop and no it couldn't wait. Finally got back up to a bike, started pedaling and realized I had left my water bottle back by the cooler. So I hit pause, got off, retrieved the bottle and in the meantime the program cleared itself off the bike.

Took a deep breath and restarted...from there things went fine. 13.5 miles in 47 minutes, most of it at 80 rpm, the final 7 minutes at 100.

Hey all, internet was down this morning and finally getting caught up. A slow-but-not-so-easy 10.4 this morning after an easy 4 at lunch yesterday and track workout last night. Went with a new Tuesday night track group as my normal Wednesday one's track is being torn up and they're doing road/hill stuff. The workout was 4 x 800 "yasso" intervals + a 400-800-1200-800-400 ladder with the 400-800s at 5k pace and the 1200 at 'tempo' pace. I went pretty much by feel and wound up 3:30, 3:24, 3:23, 3:20, 1:36, 3:17, 5:17, 3:17, 1:30. Quite a bit of rest in between but I was pleasantly surprised. Took forever to get started, we were cooling down close to 8pm and the tornado warning sirens sounded and it was totally dark driving home with the winds picking up. Nothing too bad in the aftermath but lots of branches and leaves on the trails this morning.

Nice going everyone, got to run.
