Nice work ladies. As I mentioned last night, I had a killa track workout.

The good news is that my legs were feeling good today, so I would have been up for my 5 mile recovery run when the alarm went off this morning at 5:30. The bad news is that DH is sick and kept me up all night, so I was wicked exhausted when said alarm went off and turned it off. I'll run tonight, but it is going to be hot hot hot. :(

I am really motivated to get back in shape after how tough the last 2 track workouts were. It is amazing how fast it goes away, but how long it takes to build back up....

Nice running...

I did an easy 3 last night. I'll hit the hills tonight. I am still runnings sans Garmin, which makes me feel naked. I dunno when my new one will arrive, since it was backordered. Hopefully it'll be soon. In the meantime, I have to stick to known routes so I can be as anal as I wanna be and accurately log my runs...

nice work people!

I got in a quickish 7 mile tempo run this morning. Training group was hauling butt, but I ran the 2nd half in the back with the remedial group. We still managed sub 8 min pace for the run. I'll get another 8 miles in tonight.

Run this morning in the heat. I have to say, after all the crap weather we got all spring, I'm happy for the warmth!

I've been biking back and forth to work since Evelyn started at daycare this week and I really enjoy it. Plus, the extra workout can only be good for me!

Good afternoon all! Fabulous weekend home with my family in St. Louis but not much running. It was hot as balls and we really had a lot going on, however most of us did make it to the Macklind Mile run on the morning of the 4th and I pulled out a small PR running a 6:21. Not bad for a humid, hungover morning run :)

I should have run this morning but I really needed the sleep; feeling a little overwhelmed with my father's health and will be traveling to STL more often. He was officially diagnosed with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia which is a rare blood cancer and started his chemo today. He's remaining very positive and we're all trying to follow suit, it's just very very upsetting. Need to run this evening and let some of this stress / anger / sadness out.

Congratulations to all the weekend racers ...Brandy, Colleen, Mindi & DS, Ailarie, Alexis!!!

I know you can defer as late as the weekend prior to the race, maybe give it a few more weeks?

Here's a picture of mom finishing the Macklind Mile Monday morning, we felt a power arch was needed to bring her across the line

Hi all - first off, sorry about the diagnosis, Maria Obviously, I'm hoping for the best for your papa and all the family. And healing vibes to your knee Missy and any other achy 30s folks

Well, seems like my favorite CMT nailed it - all my leg issues of late have been basically due to a pinched nerve or two. I'd been getting a combo burning/weakness sensation in my right lower leg the last couple weeks, but it never was centered anywhere in particular. For the first time since my surgery, I threw in some yoga poses in yesterday's strength workout to help open up that right hip area and the leg is feeling a lot better today. Still got some work to do in that area (my leg is still slightly twingy) but I'm not thinking as much about the leg as I had been, which is good. I'm cautiously optimistic I'll be able to get back running later this month <crossing fingers>

Also decided on a whim that I was going to give the minimalist/barefoot thing one more solid, do-it-right effort to see if this is really for me. Ended up buying these over the weekend

These shoes are made by a company in Oregon (Soft Star) - I have a pair of Five Fingers but I've found that since my right fourth toe is essentially married to my third one, that toe would be "forced" to align with the toe slot and I'd end up getting blisters and/or sore tendons in that area. These have a traditional toe box and just enough padding underneath to take on the trails and roads.

I'm going to build up to doing a 5K with these things on slowly but surely, and hopefully in the process build up the lower leg strength where I'd feel comfortable tackling my first 50K trail run (though not necessarily in these things) sometime in the future.

Happy fitnessing to you all!

Yes, I lub lub lub that pic too!

So I opted not to run in the heat tonight and instead pulled weeds, dug out overgrown areas for mulch and threw down a ton of mulch. I figured it would be a better workout for Tough Mudder than a 5 mile recovery run and I REALLY wanted to get this place looking decent. The front looks great!

I slacked off at work today, cleaned up the monsoon that apparently hit my office and spent a nice day with the kids working outside.

I also got these sweet things:
