Upper 60s and 88% humidity in WI - Sweaty, but bearable.

I continue to run good work outs, but come up short on the scheduled workout. Today - I wanted 20 miles with 3x10 minutes @ T in the last part of run.

What I got was - I slept in until 4:45 and decided to go for 16 miles. I felt sluggish the 1st half of run - but decided to force the T-Pace

1st 10 minutes on T-Pace - Was fine. 5 minutes off, then the 2nd I ran way too fast and cut it short at 6 minutes. THe 3rd I was hurting and only did 8 minutes, so I through in another 6 minutes at the end.

So I got 30 minutes at T - And a good workout, but kindof screwed up - I'll take it because I am kindof a screw up

Good running to all -

Todd: Same weather here in Iowa - Doncha love midwest summers???

Flounder - quit bein' a slacker!!! 16 miles... you should be ashamed!!
Seriously - at least you got out there and gave it what you had - sometimes that in itself is a success - When we feel like running, it's easy - when we don't feel like it and do it anyway, well that's the difference between a runner and a jogger!

Measly 2 miles this morning; but it's 2 more than I ran a month ago. Hot and humid for 6am. It's one mile with the wind at our backs and on a downhill slant; but coming back - it was in the wind on an incline. Everyday I feel more and more like I used to feel. Kick'd the last 250 yards or so.... Not a lot, but one more step in the right direction.

I actually feel good about the workout - I changed my priorities this marathon cycle. Before it was mileage 1st and speed workouts took second fiddle. Now its opposite - Speed workouts are most important - Mileage secondary.

Good morning!
11 mile run for me this morning. Finished in 1:29:53. I felt good the whole time, but I sure didn't think I was that fast this morning. Running with others seems to help the speed come and the time fly. Nice start to the day.

Have a good one everyone!

Agreed Moment's Notice...once my slacker runs reach even a half of that I'll feel great.

Keep it up Mikey!

Aphigirl - Awesome run!

Way to go Satfix, every step in the right direction will bring you closer to your goal. Keep it up, those numbers will add up fast.

Off for a nice recovery jog through the fog.

flounder,
If I were *half* the sluggish slacker that you claim to be, I'd be WHEY happy with my achievements.

OY, now it is time for chores.
ps:--->Please send rain to Dane County.
I remembered that in Runner's World the guy who just set the US record for the 1/2 marathon said "Learn to run by effort and not pace."

So, my brain said to my body, "Let's do that." My body said to my brain, "OK but I get to drive." So, I went pretty slow. Whenever my brain tried to push the pace, my body would remind my brain that it wasn't driving.

I did 9 miles in 1:49:30. That's 9 minutes faster than I did it last week. That workout was terrible; lots of walking, couldn't maintain anything like a consistent pace. This time, I didn't walk at all - at least if you don't count having to walk for all of 15 seconds when I crossed a busy street.

Cheers,
Wow great runs for Wednesday For me: I got up at 5:00am to go out for a run-and I realized it was thundering So ended up with 9.5 miles on the treadmill. We had some wicked storms here this morning but I think they have passed now.
