Good morning, everyone. Glad to see you back in the saddle, Apple. And good luck today, Dan.

Lotsa' running for me this week. 18 Monday, ten yesterday, 13 this morning. Don't seem to be losing any weight this training cycle -- holding steady at 172. Shrug.

Monday's run contained a number of miles at 6:50 pace. I was struggling through them when three black birds began following me, about twenty feet up. They were making an awful racket, I suppose discussing among themselves how to split up the carcass when this obviously distressed animal they were chasing finally collapsed and died. After a half mile, I stopped, chewed them out, and told them they were wasting their time, as I didn't think this particular run was going to kill me. They talked it over and left.

Good morning BBS and Chances. I got in a 3 mile tempo run this morning. 1 mile warmup then 7:12; 7:06; 7:13 miles. 1 miles cool down for 5 miles in 39:00(7:47). I will eventually get in a core workout this morning.

Chances - glad you survived your dice with deadly Blackbirds. That's a lot of miles... are you eating a deep dish pizza after eat one?

BBS - enjoy the recovery and hope you get a nice gift.

kfuller - nice tempo run!

The drive back from Hilton Head caught up with me and I was feeling all off my 40 years this morning. I bailed on my planned run to gym, weights and run home to get 2 more hours of sleep. Will try to get out at lunch for a 5er birthday run in the blazing sun...

Don't even get me started on the weight thing.

Fishbowl for me this morning. I think it was 2500??? Quick change then out for a trot. Oh boy... certainly feeling that long hard ride yesterday! But, it was good to get out and run from the gym. Short 5 with dead even splits.

I am test wearing Brooks Adrenaline 11's. Hard to tell at this point as my legs weren't totally fresh. But, basically feel like any other Brooks. Only thing I don't like about 'em is they are white with blue. I'm sick of blue Adrenalines! Better than the purple Defyance though... I'll have a couple surveys to fill out and that's it! Pretty good deal on my part!

Kevin- Nice job on the Tempo, you ever do any 5K paced tempo runs?

RA- Happy Birthday!!!!! You're from England?

I can't believe I posted that it was 'nice' today. Its sooo freaking humid out there after all that rain we had the past few days. 3 miles over and done with, took the 1st mile to work the kinks my speedwork put in me yesterday, last 2 were just scorching hot.

BTW- In my speed session yesterday- did 8x400 @3k pace w/ 2min jog rec. all at 2% incline... the 2% is a booger bear, even doin measly 1/4s

Morning all,

I'm the one everybody hates for being so light, so I'll just stay quiet on the weight issue. Meanwhile I am planning to hit the track tonight for the weekly club workout...website says 6-8 x 600 which shouldn't be too taxing, and that's fine with me since I have a 5k on Friday night.

Chances - sounds to me like you're still working off that half a cow you ate last week.

RA - now that you're 40 you need to clear off a shelf for all that new AG hardware.

BBS - getting serious about that trail running, eh? It's fun and the right shoes definitely help. Happy shopping.

4BM - Brooks test wearer. I'm surprised I never thought of that. I should do that given how much I like Brooks' stuff (both shoes and apparel).

kevin - nice job on the tempo

Hi everyone. I think I gained 6 pounds just during my 2 week vacation, so I'm carrying some extra fluff, too.

4bm, I just sent back my test sneakers to New Balance. I added my name to the database 2 years ago and was equally surprised when a new pair of shoes showed up for me to test. Enjoy.

Happy Birthday RA!

Great job on those workouts. I went out for a 5 mi recovery jog this morning between raindrops. Felt good.

Happy Birthday, RunAsics! -- I think you'll find the 40-44 AG quite challenging. Full of wide-eyed, crazy, mid-life crisis types. (I've heard. -- glances over at Hawk.)

So, I ran a bit longer than planned over lunch. Ended with 7.77 miles, completely by chance, at a leisurely pace. I realized as I was walking back to my desk that it's actually the date, i.e. 7/14 (7+7), which is better than running my age since that'll take most of the week. It was a blazing inferno but some random shade a breeze helped but even after a shower I'm still sweating.

Jill - nice job of dancing between the rain drops. Somehow they always hit me.

Jebba - Must be water weight. Hope you get time to relax and brush that fluff off.

Hawk - enjoy the track. I can never make track on Wednesday eves. Note that the 40-44 AG is deeper than the 35-39 AG. I'd have to run a mid 17 5k to get in the top 5 of a circuit races. So, my strategy is to find small, low key races to garner hardware :) I may also reset all my PRs.

4boysmom - Nice job on the multisporting. So, what's a short mile? A kilometer?

BBS - nice speedwork! don't break the TM.

I don't even wanna THINK about 45-49. I'm desperately hanging onto 40-44!!! I was talking with a tri-buddy at the gym today. She was lamenting that she's now 40-44. Ack! That means we're racing against each other! Then I thought again. Nope. With USAT, you age up on Jan 1st, no matter when your birthday is.

Sorry 'bout the "code talk".

* long mile= longer than a mile, shorter than a half mile

* short mile= longer than a half mile, shorter than a full mile.

So, today was 4.9m, so a short 5m.
