Good morning everyone.

I had a great run this morning. I did 10 x 1/4 mile intervals with 1/4 mile recovery @ 7.2mph. The first 6 were @ 9.0mph, 7th @ 9.5; 8th @ 10; 9th @ 10.5; & 10th @ 10.6. I set the TM at 1* incline and just went with the flow. I did get worried on the last two that I was going to shoot right off the back of the TM.

Hope everyone has a great run today.

Dave- way to melt the belt on that TM!

I'm in Memphis bout to run a fiver in 18* with 10-15 mph winds= wind chill of 5*! I know some of you are used to this kinda weather, but I live in TN!! I'm pretty sure this will be my coldest run ever.

Totaled 7 yesterday on the mill. Legs very dead the first 6 400s but felt pretty good by the end.

Tough it up BBS!!

Took the day off today, yea me! Didn't feel like dealing with going to work in the snow. Now going for a run is another story! After coffee will go out with the pup to find a some cleared roads for a run with the pup. Not sure what the miles will be but looking forward to getting outside. Maybe I can convince the grown kids to go sledding today !

Dave - amazing as always, there must have been flames shooting out the back

kevin - enjoy the core workout

Struggled to the gym, plodded for 5 miles on the TM, did some half arsed upper body weights and finished with crunches on the stability ball. Just not feeling it. On the bright side; I finally received my new DS Trainers - new shoes are so soft and bouncy compared to an old pair.

Apple - hope you get your run on.

BBS - yep, that's winter.

kfuller - enjoy the core

Dave - great looking 400s! I'll need to be doing those types of workouts next month. Currently I'd struggle with 1 * 400.

Morning all,

Not much snow here last night, only an inch or so. Fine with me. Looks like a typical seasonal day today, 34 and a little breezy but at least it's sunny out.

7-9 easy near work planned for today. And it will be taken easy.

Saw the Hood to Coast movie last night. Fun and very inspiring. Even my DW, who's currently training for her 1st-ever ten miler, thought it would be really cool to put a team together and do it someday. They had a little "post-premiere" party at Union Jack's afterwards, too. Got home and to bed a bit late but it was well worth it.

Dave - way to kick out those 400s.

BBS - just go, you'll be cold for the first mile then you won't even notice the weather.

Apple - not nearly enough snow here to cancel anything...enjoy the free run day.

RA - always good to see the new kicks arrive. I've already got 100+ miles on my Saucony Kinvaras and I just started using them; another 100 and it will be time to order the next pair so they're ready when change-over time comes.

I noticed, c/o my running log that I retired my last two pairs of DS Trainer 15 at 488 miles, about 50 miles too late. They are used 99.99% of the time outside so take a beating. I picked up two new pairs of DS Trainer 15 - same price for two as for 1 pair of DS Trainer 16s... I have ~200 miles on my Fastwitch 4s and wear is not as bad as I expected but they are not a day-to-day shoe.

SIL supposedly put my name in the hat for a Hood to Coast team that one of her friends was putting together... have to follow up on where that went.

Nice runs in here as usual.

I was pleased with my run. The same easy 6 on the treadmill, but I let myself do it .1 mph faster for kicks, and for some odd reason my heart rate was about 8 beats per minute slower than it has been. The only thing I can think of out of the ordinary is that my diet wasn't so good yesterday, and I couldn't get to sleep until very late so I only got about 4 hours of good sleep. Maybe I've stumbled onto a new training strategy?

Back from the afternoon jaunt. What I thought would be nice running weather turned out to be quite awful...cold, damp, windy as hell. The sun that had been out this morning was out for about 2 minutes and then it disappeared. And there was ice to deal with.

I quickly decided I didn't need to go 9 on my recovery day in these conditions, so I cut it back to 6.

I may throw in a few more easy miles this evening if time permits (translation: if DW doesn't beat me to the treadmill).

RA - too funny re: Hood to Coast. I have a suspicion I may end up doing American Odyssey (Gettysburg-DC) this spring. My sometimes running partner at work tried to recruit me for a team last year but I declined because it was too soon either before or after Boston. And he knows I'm not running Boston this year...we'll see what happens I guess.

Well, now THAT was major suckage! We were going between white outs to blinding sun this afternoon. Windy as anything. Wimp that I am decided to do the dreadmill again. Only managed 90mins and it felt really hard. It's not calibrated correctly, so no guess on distance. I think it gave me 6-something. If I had to guess, I'd say 8:45-9:00pace? I guess that gave me the 10m that I needed.

Ug.... the dog just puked up breakfast. Yes, it's many, many hours since breakfast and it smells nothing like dog food.

Well, let me join in on the suckey runs. I don't know how you did it this morning Loopy on the trail but I headed to the RR to Trails and there was too much snow to run in. It was like running in loose sand plus the XC skiers were out and one even asked me not to run in their tracks. I know they don't like it when runners mess their tracks up but it is kinda hard not to step in them. Plus the pup really didn't care and ran in them the whole time. She loves the snow and enjoyed every minute of the run. Frustrated & tired legs, I turned around at 1.5m and ended up with a whopping 3ms total. The pup was not pleased to quit so soon and gave me grief when I had to put her in the car. uuuggh.

Late post. Got up early to run on the 'mill. I was awfully tired, so I walked after 2 miles, for 5 total.
